I know his BE is 20 odd, so he still has some cash left in him, but GWS facing the insane task of Geelong down at the Cattery this week, so I'm not expecting big scores from most of the GWS players.  GWS then have the bye and then face the Tigers who are in pretty good form.  Do you think it could be a good idea to cut JMac loose a little earlier than intended, or not?

Just to give you my full situation, I am pretty much doing a double downgrade this week (unless the players aren't named) by going Bugg > Darley and then someone to Sexton.  Ideally I want to bring Sexton into my mids to open up a link to my forwards (I have seven forwards that can play mid, but no link to the mids) and my two options are either Clay Smith or JMac.  The other option is Horsley as he has a BE of 50 and GC also have a tough game this week as well.  Clay Smith seems obvious as he's not playing much (if at all) but he will net me the least amount of profit.

tl;dr - JMac > Sexton or Clay Smith > Sexton or Horsley > Sexton

in the exact same situation and i honestly have no idea. At the moment it is clay going out for me

I'm keeping mighty Jmac and getting rid of congs this week.

Congs will struggle more than Jmac.

Well I just crunched the numbers and here's what I'll have in the bank based on each trade

Bugg > Darley

As you can see, Horsley nets me the biggest profit, but he has probably the best scoring potential (or highest ceiling at least).  JMac is in the middle, and whilst he doesn't pump out massive numbers, he is very consistent.  Smith nets me the least, but is also scoring the least, and that's when he's playing, which he doesn't seem to be lately.  So, really, the question is is it worth having that extra $150k, which will go towards getting Swan in to complete my mids, or not?

Exactly what I did... next week I'm trading JMac and I will have 6 prem mids with Horsley as bench cover...

Cogs gone this week for Selwood

agreed j-mac is a seasoned veteran he will be fine, cut your GWS rooks.

At the moment I will just settle for 70+ (hopefully 90 odd) this week.

JMac next week is the better option.

JMac will run with Selwood this week. expect a similar job to what he did on Murphy a few weeks ago

Bugg - Darley is a given and nets about $190,000.
I've already got Darley and I need to get Sidebottom in this week due to have cans of Jim Beam riding on it so I will probably be flicking J Mac despite a heap of unclaimed $$$ left in his budget.
However in your situation I would hold onto J Mac and the Horse for a few more weeks and milk the extra $$$ and flick Clay Smith as you'll be able to upgrade J Mac (probably) to Swan a week or 2 after Collingwood bye. This way you have better coverage over the byes too since Smith not looking like playing then.

Exactly, but don't let it scare you too much.

First thing i would take Horsley out of the equation, his got the highest ceiling and most money to be made, not to mention that his bye situation is almost perfect (has time to make more $$$ and we get to choose either a round 11/12 premium for him)

It really depends on your strategy during the byes
McDonald for League, the extra 120K will greatly improve your side (Smith will return at some point and make the cash as well)

Smith for Overall (If he's not selected this week), I dont really see him coming back into the side after the byes if he's not selected this week, even if he does you'd expect Jmac to outscore him by 25points/round.

Do you trust jmac will stay in the team round 12/13??

picker_man

i traded jmac this week as the only way i could get beams in besides using horsley. For your situation id keep horsley as will be very useful through bye's and a good upgrade to swan/stanton after round12. I also think you should hold onto jmac, you need your rookies to be playing through the byes to avoid donuts and with smith rarely playing atm you'd get better cover holding onto jmac

I'd prefer Jmac chances over Smith, especially if Smith isn't named this week.
