What Richo Tambling does for his own people, in indescribable! He does more for humanity than the rest of you, so butt out ;)

I was surprised at first - I didn't think Taylor was the next captain in-line - but the more I think about it, the more the move makes sense.

You want a captain to be somebody who puts the team first; who gives their all week in, week out; and somebody who is respected and adored by the entire playing group and the supporter base. Taylor ticks all those boxes.

The contract disputes with Sloane and Danger may have played a part - I would've loved to see Sloane get the C - but Tex proved he is committed to the club by signing very early on. With the likes of Heppell and Cotchin signing 5 year deals, 9 months before their contracts expire, there's clearly an element of doubt whether Sloane and Danger are committed to the club, and as a captain that just generates negative press.

Hope Taylor can handle the role well and use it to boost his form this season
