interesting theory..I wouldn't put polak in my team..I put in Gia after the rd 1 NAB game as well

I wouldn't be worried about 5 Geelong players..They all share the ball well..rack up heaps of possessions..

Thanks for the vote of confidence Flame.  I agree about Polak but I am really not sure who to swap him for.

So here we are again for probably my last update before the season starts.  The current bargain ruck team looks like this:

Backs: Goddard, Hodge, J. Hunt, Enright, Ellis, M. Davies, Maguire, Lisle, P. Stewart

Mids: Ablett, Swan, J. Selwood, Barlow, Montanga, D. Martin, Bastinac, Gibbs

Rucks: Naitanui, McEvoy, Warnock, Roughead

Forwards: Riewoldt, Giansiracusa, Rockliff, Dangerfield, Westhoff, Hall, Lockyer, Hitchcock, Podsiadly

Not too many changes that really need explaining in my opinion.  Montanga was close to being swapped but holds on due to his NAB Cup final match.  Hall was the biggest decision but the consecutive high scores made me want him.  The only way I could get him is was to trade Pavlich.  Big call but it allowed me to bring Xavier Ellis into the backline for Rick Ladson.

Both these selections I feel may be the undoing of me but you have to have faith.  To compare the players here are there NAB Cup/Challenge socres:

Ladson: 43, 40
Ellis: 57, 48

So similar scores but vastly different price.  Big gamble.

The Hall/Pavlich comarasion is as follows:

Pavlich: 85, 43
Hall: 77, 91, 106

My plan here is to get Hall up to $340k-$370k then trade him for a rookie and bring in someone who is on top of their form.  He may also help the later upgrading of ruck options.  This is why I like this theory - the ability to wait and see which rucks are playing well.  I still feel rucks are the hardest position to select.

Good luck, Nick, keep us posted on how the theory pans out.

Good to see something take a punt with McEvoy; I think he will play a lot of games this year as Gardiner and King are put out to pasture.

NicNat will be hit and miss IMO. If Cox goes down, NicNat will avg 90ppg+ IMO, but if he is just a back up ruckman and FP specialist, I can see him struggling to get more than 70ppg (which is still a great improvement from 232k)

Good luck with it.

I agree with Gerco about NicNatPaddyWhack

Funily enough, I do too.  I am waiting to see the final practise match scores before finalising the squad

I have made a couple more changes to the lineup:

Gibbs out, Stanton in
Ellis out, Geary in
Lockyer out, O'Keefe in

Not sure about the Lockyer one yet and leaqving Gibbs out is a big call but I think it will work.  Geary was  the easy decision

Well, the final teams are in which means the Bargain Ruck Theory team is in.  Final team looks like the follows for round one:

Backs: Goddard, Hodge, Waters, Enright, Harbrow, Nason (49 points so far), P. Stewart, (Silvani, Maguire)

Mids: Ablett, Swan, J. Selwood, Stanton, Montanga, D. Martin (62PSF), (Bastinac, Barlow)

Rucks: Hille, McEvoy, (Warnock (85PSF), Trengove)

Forwards: Riewoldt, Giansiracusa, Ballantyne, O'Keefe, Hall, Westoff, Hitchcock, (Roberts (38PSF), Rockliff)

I decided to leave Rockliff in as I feel he may be a late inclusion for Banfield or at the worst be in the Brisbane team by round three.

Hindsight says I should have left Nason on the bench and put Warnock on the ground.  Besides that, I am extremely happy with this team which should allow me to upgrade players such as Hall, Ballantyne, Westoff, etc to better players later in the season.

That is pretty much what I am aiming for.  I feel there are more points for midfielders (or easier points) and as such the higher quality midfield should then suppliment the lower quality rucks

a few risks down back and forwards as well.

Hope the team can score well with those mids carrying it :D.

Nothing wrong going with Cox, he is human and had injury..he is elite, wont take him long to pick up.

Flame
