IMO the midfield is the one place you don't skip on quality. It's the only position where a shiat week by a elite mid will still get you 90+ points (exceptions like Murphy last week). DEF/FWD etc can get you as low as 60. The only time to get cheapish midfielders are at the start of the season

My Midfield is: Pendles (as always), Gablett (who wouldn't), Watson (great year bar one round), Jelwood, Priddis (consistently consistent) and looking to complete it with Marc Murphy when he drops down because of his amazing performance against the mighty GWS...
That is so wrong.
Mitchell would have come 2nd in the Brownlow if he wasn't ineligible AND Dal Santo actually finished 2nd!!!
How can you say they are worse than Selwood, Watson or Priddis?????

Are mitchell and dal santo not quality?
I would have thought they are pretty high quality mids surely? Both would have finished top 10 last year

I'm talking about SC wise. They are all quality players and would love to have them all in my team. But the matter still stands that the midfield is the only place where the premo knockout 120 every second round, and you can gain a lot of points there this year.

Personally reckon it is a lot safer to get your midy's perfect and defenders and forwards less perfect given the reliability of them this year. Forget injuries, the scores of the prem defenders and forwards (excluding Deledio) ranges between 60-130. Midfielders range from 90-180. You want the best in your midfield, the most consistency from there and higher ceiling. One thing I have learnt is that you need the best in your midfield. You can gain a great advantage by having a strong midfield.

Jelwood and Watson are having much better years thus far. Priddis I agree is underperforming but still not getting anything below 90. Had him from the start for consistency, not the massive 130+ scores my other midfielders get. I guess im being harsh on Mitchell and Dal Santo but NDS cannot cop a tag (I learnt that last year) and I just don't know about Mitchell this year. May they prove me wrong...

Fair points above, but Dal Santo at $500k is probably too good to pass up. Has consistently been a top mid and rarely gets injured, a quality I really need after the start to this year (have/had fyfe, shaw, mumford, sandilands, goodes, malceski, dempsey, ablett, selwood, cornes etc. )

i am going to get both mitchell and dal santo. although one or the other will have to wait until after the round 13 bye. look at this way. rookies are making bugger all money and it is going to be difficult to get a side with 20+ premiums this year bringing in 620k+ mids. i'm taking the risk that over the second half of the season players like dal santo and mitchell will improve their average. if you don't have pendlebury and didn't bring him in before the start of last round, have fun using 3 trades (or a lot of the money banked) bringing him in cause he wont be that cheap again this season.

brownmans muffins

They are both top shelf players
V different dynamic at scoring points
I see Mitchell as a better Boyd - volume scorer; grunt work
I see NDS as a poor man's Pendles - silky smooth; nearly every touch is calculated & damaging

I'm hoping to bring them both in in consecutive weeks
