I know DT and SC have not even started yet for the 2010 season and I am as excited about it as anyone, but has anyone thought about the 2011 season?
All the stategies etc that us coaches have will be out the window in 2011 and a new stategy will be required. 2011 will feature byes & have more rounds, therefore bench players and trades will become even more crutial.
Possibly more trades may be an option for the organisers of DT & SC (as there will be 24 rounds) & due to byes, bench players will be very important to replace starting team players so that we start with a full team every week (or most weeks as I have predicted that this will be very difficult for a full team with no 0's every week), and obviously this will make trades even more golden as a player traded in will have to have a bye also at some stage.
Any comments and thoughts on this would be very interesting.
Thanks.

The bye will be very interesting. I would expect that they would retain the 16 team competitions/leagues and so I think the leagues will kick off two weeks later in round 6 (round 4 this year). I'm not sure how they will handle the bye. Here are 3 options I can think of.

1. The best idea I have heard is where they might create 2 trade rooms, one for normal trading, and one for bye trading where u can trade the players in your team who have the bye and then upon completion of the round, your bye trades reverse and so you in effect you replace your bye players for one round. Whether the website can handle such complex trading is unlikely.

2. A more likely scenario is where they simply give us more trades.

3. Or they give us a bigger list (say 35 instead of 30). Obviously a bigger list will mean be a bigger salary cap (or cheaper players).

Personally, I don't like either of the last 2 ideas because there will be too many rounds where you will have to carry a donut.

This has been talked about a fair bit already.

Why not just wait until 2011 before you start worrying about it, you can't plan for something you don't know anything about. I'm sure the peeps at Virtual Sports will sort it all out for us  ;D

I'm not worried about it Clint, I just thought it was an interesting thought and topic looking forward.

But don't GWS come into he game in 2012?? if they do it's only for 1 year...

Statman79

It may only be for one year but it does change the thought process for that year.
Another comment is that yes, the real season for leagues may not start until round 6 that year but for people like me (and I know I'm clutching at straws and it is almost impossible) but I also try my best to finish as high as possible overall in the comp (not just try and win the league) and maybe go for the win if i'm good enough, so the first 6 rounds do count for me.

Dude don't start this topic now! What will we have to post about next year! hahahaha  ;D

This is what i think... Add say 1 mill on salary cap and have 3-5 extra players. The key would be to spread the load with players from each side. Cant have too many players from 1 side... This year i have 5 hawks players. Next year you can't afford to do that.

We wll worry about it nex year

Come on people, think a bit more laterally.   Obviously the easiest way would be to allot the average score to players having a bye.

2010 has only just arrived and you're already talking about the 2011 season which is over a year away.
People are treating this like the Y2K bug. Just deal with it when it comes around, it will be the same for everyone so it doesn't matter.
