ADELAIDE captain Nathan van Berlo has been cleared to play in Saturday night's crunch game against Sydney at the SCG.

And in more good news for the Crows, classy goalsneak Jason Porplyzia is also expected to be fit for the clash of second versus fourth.

Coach Brenton Sanderson said van Berlo - subbed out of Sunday's Showdown early in the third quarter with a corked thigh-hip - trained well at today's closed training session and would line up against the Swans.

"We subbed out van Berlo during the match (against the Power) because he had a nasty cork on his thigh-hip, but he's fine and will play this week,'' Sanderson said.

The Crows coach said Porplyzia - a late withdrawal from the team that beat Port after straining a shoulder-back muscle at training - was also expected to play.

But he said the club wouldn't make a final decision until putting him through a rigorous fitness test tomorrow morning.

"Jason Porplyzia should come back into the side,'' Sanderson said.

"He ticked all the boxes at training today, so there will be at least one change to the side that beat Port.

"But we will test him again tomorrow.''

Sanderson said young key defender Sam Shaw - who also was a late withdrawal against the Power with a strained hamstring - would miss another week.
