A bit conservative Miss Pies! Personally I think all the other teams won't show up once they see us with Jolly and Ball in our side.

nas

How is presti not captain for the Pies? He's there best player ;D

Cicjose

because he wasnt offered the captaincy only L Brown was offered the captaincy but obviously he turned it down cause he's too busy being a spud and dreaming of creating his own spuddy team to be the captain of :)

The thing is ossie to win a premiership you need strength on every line. If you have a weekness anywhere you will be found out in the finals. C'wood have strengthened their midfield (including rucks) significantly, and have a reasonable backline. If C'wood are to do better than last year ie make the GF some of their players have to step up, namely Cloke, Anthony, Lockyer, Dale Thomas, and you need a top centre half forward. Leigh Brown is not the answer there.
Good luck this season, I have 3 woods in my team so I hope you're right ;D

Quote from: valkCollingwood are a good side but I dont think that they have "what it takes" to go all the way.  Ball and Jolly are big additions but like the Bulldogs it wont be enough to go all the way.

Ahh, good times. Apparently I didn't make a ladder, though I made the bold prediction the Lions were a chance for the flag :P

valkorum

Yep I got that one wrong ossie :P

QuoteSt Kilda are smack bang in the middle of their window of opportunity right now and I think they have the goods to go all the way this year.

Well they got there :P

QuoteGeelong are slowly on the way out over the next couple of seasons, but in saying that, they are definitely in the premiership race this year.

Right

QuoteWestern Bulldogs are your perennial team that is up there.  A few top up's may help a bit, but I am not sure.  They will either get to the big show and lose or drop out the week before.

Right

QuoteAdelaide and Neil Craig know how to play football.  I think the old fella's have enough to go around 1 more year at full pace, and they do have an exciting crop of young players.  Will be up there, but I dont think the aging bodies can get them over the line in September.

Wrong - aging bodies didnt even make it to September

QuoteHawthorn had a really bad run of injuries last year.  I do believe their premiership was too early for them in where they believe they are at.  Will be up amongst it this year.

Right - Very happy Freo knocked them out :)

QuoteCollingwood are a good side but I dont think that they have "what it takes" to go all the way.  Ball and Jolly are big additions but like the Bulldogs it wont be enough to go all the way.

Correct in that Ball and Jolly were big inclusions.  Wrong about the middle tier players who stepped up and allowed them to go all the way.

QuoteCarlton when they are all firing have the potential to destroy teams, but inconsistency and a new forward will mean its not a regular occurrence.  When they do "click" those wins will help boost their % and get them over the line and in to the 8.

Pretty much bang on the money

QuoteFremantle are on the improve and I think will shock a few teams this year.  If core group of players can stay healthy and young guys develop well then they are a chance to sneak in to the 8.

Right (sort of).  Clearly in the 8 all year and definitely shocked a few teams

QuoteEagles are definitely on the improve.  If Kerr, Cox and Masten can play all year then they will be up there in the race for the 8.  If those 3 go down (injury or suspension) then I am not sure the young brigade are quite ready to carry the load.  2011 for the Eagles

Half right, half wrong.  Wrong that they would be this high.  Right that the young brigade are not ready to carry the load.

QuoteBrisbane traded hard but I dont think that they picked up any real quality.  Yes.... they got Fev, but they lost Bradshaw.  I think Brisbane want to try and get as much hype about themselves as they can before the GC arrive.  Hiring Vossy, Trading Fev/Bradshaw, Trading Heavily (high media stories)

Wrong (with a bit of right) Went for the hype but not this high up the ladder.

QuoteEssendon are improving but I think their fixtures are going to kill them.  Playing the top teams twice is a hard ask for a developing squad.  I think they have it in them to upset one of the big teams during the home and away season.

They did upset a few teams along the way - the in-house turmoil did not help the team

QuoteSydney will play better as the season progresses, but I think a slow start will hurt them come August and the race for the 8.  Mumford and Seaby too improve during the year.

Got it round the wrong way.  Started off great and fell away in the middle then came home strong.  Mumford and Seaby - correct

QuoteKangaroo's I think will play good football, but not quite enough to get enough wins on the board to play September footy.  If the younger players develop quickly during the season then they may be a few places higher come the pointy end of the season.

Right - Just fell short of the 8

QuoteMelbourne will improve on last year, but will have to play a lot of young kids to get some games and experience in to them.  About mid season they may go on a good run, but fade towards end of year when the youngsters are getting tired.  2011-12 they should be a handy team.

Right

QuotePort Adelaide... to be honest I don't know what it is about Port Adelaide.  They have some quality players but just cant seem to put it together on the field.  I thought they needed to get rid of Chocco and bring someone in to inject some energy in to the club.

Right - got rid of Choco and won 6 out of 7 (I think)

QuoteRichmond need time to develop the young kids.  They will win a few games, but a small handful of players cannot carry the rest of the team.

Right

I'm not sure if correcting your own homework actually counts. A bit like Brisbane's club review which excludes looking at the coach.
