In order to win a premiership you must improve every year until you are better than the teams currently above you.
Collingwood have improved by virtue of their recruiting last year. However the finals last year showed that some of their "stars" can go missing.
Carlton and Essendon are weaker this year than last year I believe, so they may be struggling this year.
Footscray are slightly better this year, the question is whether they have caught up to or passed St.Kilda and Geelong
St.Kilda have virtually the same team, last year it was good enough to make the big one, and, even though I'm a Geelong supporter, should have won, but wasted opportunities you can't afford to against a good team.
Geelong have not improved their list either. We will see about them. But I wouldn't write them off as some of you seem to have done. No team has ever won the premiership in March. Don't be fooled by pre-season form, they are the same players who beat the sainters in a classic GF and beat every team in the top 4 to do it. And don't forget what they did to Collingwood
My top 8 is
Geelong (premiers)
St.kilda
Footscray (2 and 3 are interchangable)
West Coast
Port Adelaide
Hawthorn (depending on injuries they seem to be cursed)
Adelaide
Brisbane

It's going to be another long season for Richmond and Melbourne.
Carlton and Essendon will disappoint.
Collingwood, even though they have recruited well will fail. God bless 'em.

A fair analysis, but the pies will make the finals at the very least.

I actually think the cats will miss the top 4 this year, just a feeling

The thing is ossie to win a premiership you need strength on every line. If you have a weekness anywhere you will be found out in the finals. C'wood have strengthened their midfield (including rucks) significantly, and have a reasonable backline. If C'wood are to do better than last year ie make the GF some of their players have to step up, namely Cloke, Anthony, Lockyer, Dale Thomas, and you need a top centre half forward. Leigh Brown is not the answer there.
Good luck this season, I have 3 woods in my team so I hope you're right ;D

west coast are coming up good but i don't think to 4 at all i think 9th or 10th the 2 of 3 worst spots you could have....

I agree, but then again Geelong have won 2 flags without a great forward line. Mooney is the luckiest centre half forward around with THREE flags. Correct though, Cloke and Anthony need to step up. They are both VERY young still though.

Thomas gets a lot of crap, I actually thought it was his best season last year.

And Lockyer? Lockyer was great last year, don't know what your talking about.

Leigh Brown is just a fix-it player. Can play forward, ruck and back if needed, provides versatility, but not a match winner by any measure.

Don't think Geelong might have a problem with the back line this year?

brownlow=dont care lol

To win a premiership in my opinion is to have every player in unison, understanding of their role, playing it 100% and stepping up when injuries occur

Justin Bieber

a little tough on geelong and adelaide. geelong i don't think will pull a hawthron with injuries everywhere. adelaide players are getting older but they have some good young guns coming through. finishing 13th i think will be way underachieving for them.

don't mind the rest except north that high (8 is possible).
