The Supercoach

Toast

With fyfe Dempsey and birchall all being late withdrawals this week, I'm believing nothing til he runs out next week!

Ringo

Watched the video of his injury last year where he played the following week after being subbed out.  He was still able to run and walk reasonably freely in this case at Metricon.  Last night he could do neither so you can appreciate my concern about him playing next week. Had to be moved from one side of the oval to the other to the interchange and had to be assisted as he could not walk/run.

upthemaidens

apparently he woke up very sore,,  im doubting he will travel to melbourne next week to play.. just not worth the risk.. they probably were going to rest him during the year anyhow

bluedreamin

Anyone else hear on SEN that the injury may be worse than they thought?

Yes, heard them say they had inside info that it's not good news and everyone within GCFC were very pessimistic about the injury. Pure hearsay of course. Guess we will know in the next few days. Unless its 4+ weeks I'm holding him.

Crossing my fingers he is alright. Just like everyone else. Out of all people it had to happen to Gary

OK, so watched the video and IMO its not that bad. His knee gets hit but he manages to 'pull out of it' if you understand what I'm trying to say. If he kept his leg there and it was wedged into the turf, he could have done serious knee damaged. But he sort of hops out of it.
The final footage shows Gary walking the boundary unassisted with 3 minders (well behind him) and a mild look of discomfort on his face.
'IF' he misses just the 1 week it will be more of a rest than anything else (for carrying the troops for the past 4 rounds).

dmac07

Yeah I'm hoping a strain, almost certain to miss next week I'd think, but hopefully only a 2 week injury.

Capper

they will atleast rest him for 2 weeks for the GWS game, they dont want to lose that game

I don't think Ablett will allow himself to be rested. If he can play, he will. He wants the brownlow and he wants to play. If the scans are positive it will be a one week rest at most surely?

I really don't think Ablett's priority is the Brownlow... ??? He's very much a team man.

He might miss the one week, but he will only return once he's at full capacity. The last thing he'd want is to further damage his knee coming back too early!!

Don't trade him!! At the moment, he's the 9th most Traded out player in SC this week with 1.96% of trades out. 158 people have traded him to Stanton ???

9     Stanton, B     Ablett, G    158 (1%)

Why, oh why!! Some people have no idea!!

Ablett would very much love to win another brownlow. why do you think him and bomber had a falling out... bomber was playing him up forward more which meant gary wouldnt poll as many votes. Gary didnt like the thought of that.

Of course he would like to win a brownlow, who wouldn't? But, you can't tell me that, that is his priority. He's captain of the team!!

bonebones

He's a total narcissist that recently quoted his favourite book as being 'How to become a superhuman' Of course he wants to win the brownlow. Team man? A Gold Coast team man? Seriously guys. He will want to play and unless he himself is convinced that he may jeopardise his season by playing, then he will play!!!!!!!
