It's not 2. 1 trade to bring in Murphy for Ablett (Waste of a trade). Now, when you're going to upgrade your rooks to Murphy, you instead upgrade them to Ablett. You were already going to use the 2nd trade, so it's only a waste of one trade.

Secondly, it's not a waste paying 700k+ for him. You are selling him at the same price, so you're getting the profit of him being expensive, which you will then loose when you need to bring him in. So because you're selling him for the same price you're buying him, it doesn't really matter what price he is.
mate you have a point. People trade out Shaw,Broughton,Fyfe(before knowing he was missing) but won't trade certain other players. If (like me) you have not used any trades then why not use 1 to bring in Murphy for 3 weeks then bring Ablett back in r8 when a cash cow should be ready? massive jump on people who keep him. Not sure if it's for me as i need to get Pendles while his price is momentarily lower and before it shoots up again. But if you already have Pendles and haven't used any trades,why not. You have to think outside the square. Following these "rules" can actually hurt. I should have gone Cox and Pav out Sidebum and Sandi(he'll only miss 1) in in r2. Now it's too late and I'm losing nearly 40 points a week and missed out on 160 k for future upgrades. All because i followed these "rules". Think of them as guidelines and keep in mind that every persons team is a different story, needeing differenrt approaches. Weigh up your options,don't discount anything and best of luck.

QuoteWell I will be trading out Ablett to either Marc Murphy/Stanton then when he returns bring him straight back in. I was planning on upgrading to Marc Murphy/Stanton in 2-3 weeks when my rookies are close to their breakeven. Effectively loosing one trade but gaining possibly 70 - 100 points per round than not using a rookie.

Yeah but it'll take at least two trades to bring him back in at $721 000, probably three.

2 rookies at $350 k (generously) = $700 k, plus money saved on side swap to Murphy $75 k) = $775 k, minus $100 rookie trade-in = $675 k. Not enough for Ablett without residual cash or Ablett price drop.

VERY marginal in two trades without sacrificing a mid-pricer or another premium.

So we have just hear that little gary will be sidlined for 2-3 weeks, so an idea struck me.
Yesturday I asked if trading shuey to murphy was a good idea but now instead I may trade Ablett to Murphy. Why you may ask?
Well I am trading A Kennedy to Treloar this week leaving me with $212,100 in the bank. What I am thinking is the best thing to do is trade Ablett to Murphy (as said) and when Ablett returns I will trade Shuey to Ablett (depending on shuey situation). This way my overall will increase because many will have ablett on their bench and have someone like shiel or coniglio in which will lose them 70 or so points.
I have only used 1 trade so far so kennedy to Treloar, Ablett to Murphy and Shuey to Ablett will see me with 20 trades given I dont make any others.
Trades are precious but so are points and I may have 210 more than many others by the time gaj returns.
What do you think?

It's actually just one mate, all depending on how much he has now. If he has say at least 100k, he can do it in 1 trade.

Ablett to Murphy - 75k gained

In 2 weeks time - say Magner downgrade to a rookie - $250k (Total of $325k) plus the $100k - $425k

Upgrade someone at $300k to Ablett - this would have been the trade to Murphy. Therefore it's just one trade used that wouldn't have been used in the first place.

tigertops

if ur going for overall u can possibly justify the trade cause u need to keep getting points.
otherwise keep him and just go shuey to murphy.

Colty

Im trading him and Magner for Dustin Martin and Dal Santo. Then in 3 weeks time if all goes to plan ill trade Luke Parker who will be about $450k and another Rookie who will be around $300k. So ultimately its cost me 4 trades to go
OUT
Albett
Parker
Rookie
Magner

IN
Dal Santo
Martin
Ablett
Rookie.

Im happy with that.

The Bomber

if you can you should hold out on martin for a week...get WCE out of the way then trade him in

Colty

Actually change Martin to Sidebottom.

ThePreditorPenguin

well i have a plan like urs also, so i believe that is the smart idea, because it means that no matter how long his out for it doesnt really affect u, u just wait and bring him back in when the time is right!
ps my plan is
ablett -> barlow
wingard -> treloar
then once ablett is back
magner ->ablett

Just a thought but for those who think Parker will score well.

Ablett to Parker gets you $370K. Use part of this to grab a premium elsewhere/make a correction, JfarkingRoo as an example. This will cost you $120K. That leaves you with around $250K as a minimum to bring Abblett back in in 5 rounds when Parker has peaked around $470K and Ablett has hopefully dropped to $690Kish with that 182 out of his rolling average. $130K left over.

For 3 trades you have are left with about $130K, a mistake fixed (a premium forward for JRoo), an extra 100 points while Ablett is out, lose about the same when Ablett comes back, gain a thousand points for whoever replaces JRoo. Worth thought...

jamesalex

I've used 4 trades and have a 5 premium midfield so it's no problem for me to bench Ablett.

Anyone think I should trade him?

nathan11

going to have to trade him out only have 3 prems so cant have him sitting on the bench probably bring in jelwood

The Bomber

how could you not have jelwood???
