This kid is a freak, so quick, so silky, and effective

once he gets some confidence and starts getting 20-30 touches a game in an improving power squad (he will probs be future captain) he will be premier player in the comp. I rate him higher than Tyson, Coniglio, Shiel, Patton ect

when will he win his first brownlow

CrowsFan

So many great players missed out on winning a brownlow so I'm going to say he wont ever win one. You may rate him higher than players from this draft but what about from the previous 2 or 3? He will be competing against players like David Swallow, Gaff, Caddy, Heppell, Trengove, Martin, Fyfe etc for his whole career so no guarantees he will ever win one.

Maybe he'll get close when Port next make the Grand Final........

Wingard still has a way to get to AFL standard before he even thinks about taking his game to a super pro status as said by Matthew Primus.

I doubt that he'll ever get a brownlow. Although nobody would of thought Ablett was worth a brownlow in his first year. Depends on his work ethic

The F.A.R.K.

thing is port is on the up, when the time comes round for wingard to be at the top of their game, so will port

they are in a rebuilding stage and when they get intot he peak of their premiership window, windgard will be at peak also. Definately see him as next captain and with guys like butcher, jacobs, oshea, lobbe, trengove the future is bright at the port

he has heaps of improvement he was a very good player at junior level and was sa captain at 18s last year

atm he is getting 10 touches a game but every single touch is special, wait till he gets 20-30 plus touches. He is like a judd, has good leadership, good work ethic, hard at the ball, hard for his team and makes every touch count

....yeah and maybe this might happen
  ;)

The kid has great courage and is uber skilled, but the game now makes his sort of player talent more useful to team structure as an outsider. This protects his body from the heat of he pack and preserves him for the longer term. Whilst in this preservation phase he will become that safe, go to player in his future years, but his body size and lack of gut run ability (more impact, as the rotation of today's game dictates) will mean he won't attact the umpire's vote.
Probably win a few club B&F's but may never win a Brownlow because of genetic make-up.

*Jimmy Bartel has never won a club B&F, but he has won a Brownlow. Jimmy and Wingard may share the medal honour of  AFLPA Robert Rose Award as the game's most courageous player some day but today's game will not see Wingard share in the elite group of individual footballers who have a Premiership Medal, Norm Smith Medal, and Brownlow Medal. Others in the elite group include Simon Black, James Hird, Chris Judd, and Greg Williams. - ask yourself, is Wingard similar to any of these 5 in their early days?

No.

I wish him all the very best and look forward to him battling head to head with Dangerfield and Sloane in future Showdowns.

Never. Shiel and Coniglio will win one before him.

so in simple terms coz i couldt understnad what u were syaing there, wingard is a freak, he may not be the dt gun but his possesions are worth 10 cheap handballs each so he will attract votes and he will probs win his first of 5 in 2013 haha

Boomz

After 3 games it's all but impossible to predict... Wait and see how he progresses.

McRooster

He won't get any Brownlow votes this week, dropped from the Power line up - he won't get any Magarey medal votes either, the mail is he won't get a guernsey for Sturt on Friday night  :o

Is there any injury the club has not disclosed or has the Power pressured the Blues into resting the young lad  :-\

Tominator

bit early to be saying he'll win a Brownlow but in a few years he will be a star of the game, no question about that. Got plenty of talent and showing all the signs of a future gun

Who'll shine for years to come in a midfield of Hartlett, Boak Broadbent and Ebert

Is that a question or a comment?
