I, for one am not overly concerned about our loss to the Kangas. North played a great game, they were quick and clean and deserved to win.
Geelong will improve.
This is going to be a long season, and a lot of teams give themselves a chance at this stage of the season.
There were a few good signs, and we will get our team together as the season unfolds. We should focus on next week against the Tigers. This game is no gimme.
Hopefully Mackey will be OK for that game. We need him.  Geelong will bounce back, I have no doubt.

I agree a couple of Gellongs stars have been down abit, but i is Gellong you never write them off. I woudnt want to be richmond this week I think Gellong could push for a big win, to show they are still the best in the comp.

bunyip

Not exactly a big win, but an important one in the context of the season.

Usman

Geelong simply had to win and did, but they are no longer the best in the business still right up there but they will not win the GF this year. Ottens, Ling, Mooney and Milburn is alot of class, depth, experience and structure gone from one of the best teams of all time, but with the core group all a year older the task is simply too tough this year. 3rd-6th finish for the cats IMO. sad to see it start to end even for a Richmond supporter i have admirred their style of play and their players attitude.

bunyip

I hear ya Usman, but I think we can still give it a shake. You know who I think we miss more than anyone? Daniel Menzel. I can't wait for him to get back. He's a clone of Stevie J, and we look like a better team with him in it. No disrespect for our other players of course. And Nathan Vardy to, they are our future and need them in the team.

Usman

I love Menzel such a good player. I was at the Semi when he did his knee gainst the hawks, it was shattering. He could be a big boost in the second half of the year if he gets up well, but more importantly in years to come. I cant see Geelong ever really dropping out of the 8 a bit like Sydney did IMO.

Cicjose

are you guys in trouble??

bunyip

Not in trouble, but we could be doing better. I always thought if you finished 6/5 half way through the season thats a good start. The cats are under performing at the moment, but they are STILL going a lot better than my fantasy team. If you can stay a game or 2 away from 4th position and have a good run home that will do.
The days when Geelong could not go out of the top 4 after 18 rounds are obviously over.

Colliwobblers

I disagree, IF the cats have thier full list they are still capable of winning the GF. Carlton and the Hawks would be the biggest threat for mine, West Coast would be lucky and have to be at 110% to win in Melbourne (obviously), the bombers look great but against the Cats at 100% under Finals pressure? not sure they are that good / mature yet.

Pies list is in bad shape 7 of the best 22 out, at full strength we can't beat the Cats anyway  ::)

Sydney NEVER wins at the MCG. Freo will be lucky to play finals Adelaide will fade who else is a threat for finals?

Reckon the Cats will make the 8 and healthy and in form as usual will be very hard to beat but if someone does im betting on the blues or hawks.

Write off the Cats at your peril someone once said, might have been a lot of someones when all those someones realised how good they still were last season.

Reckon Scarlett out really unsettles the backline and Adelaide matched up VERY well on thier defenders knowing the team so well.

I'll be baracking for the Pies this week, but I'll be tipping the Cats.

Cruiseon

Bunyip so we dance yet again in what is somewhat of an unusual GF replay, 9th v 7th !!! I look forward to it as always & will of course attend.

I don't like the timing fo getting you guys, you actually have a bit to prove and like Colliwobblers I'm very wary. What are your thoughts?

bunyip

My thoughts are I'm glad we're playing the Pies next week, the way we're playing we'd never beat a good team. By the way, have you guys been told that we have no room at Kardinia park (it will always be Kardinia Park to me) ? I don't think we have enough room for your cheer squad.
Seriously though, I give us a good chance. I haven't looked, but I assume it's at the MCG. We play well there usually. The cats tend to lift for Collingwood games. We'll have Jimmy back probably, and this is just the sort of game that can run you into form. as I said earlier though, it's a bit early in the season to panick. We're doing OK, we just have to stay in the mix.

bunyip

I see Scarlo and Jimmy will be back for our game against the Pies. They are big inclusions so it will be a diifferent team that runs out this week. I don't know why, but Collingwood have had trouble beating us the last few years, even when they've had the better team. Both teams will be up for this game. In the overall scheme of things it's just one game, but it's one both teams would like to win.
Our spine is intact so thats good. Alan Christensen might play so we aren't in too bad a shape.
Good players lift against good sides, so I expect Geelong will step up a notch for this game.
If they do they should win, and it will also help restore the rotting carcass that is my fantasy team.

bunyip

If nothing else, the game against Collingwood showed the Cats are still a force. Collingwod  have been in reasonable form and Geelong made a lot of unforced errors. If we can win 2 more games befor the half way mark, I'll be happy. Geelong traditionally get better as the season unfolds, so does everyone else I guess, but hopefully the Cats will improve and regain their 2011 form.
