Seeing as the one and only is so cheap this week and within striking distance, is it worth:

1. Matthew Pavlich -> Brendan Whitecross

2. David Swallow -> Michael Barlow

PROS:
-Pav out of form, crossy is in form, playing for a dt friendly team
-I can expect higher scores from Barlow week in, week out

CONS:
-Pav could return to form after fyfe's injury and get a bit of time in the mids...
-supposdely 'hard' draw so far so i might be being harsh
-crossy could turn out to be a SPUD
-swallow has been doing alright, pumping out two 80's and a ton
-barlow could suffer injury woes again

So what do you think?  :o

all in all Barlow and whitecross are relatively unproven.  Sure they could be breaking out, but if they don't, it'll cost you two early trades.

I'd imagine swallow not changing all that much, his role is perfectly defined in the midfield next to ablett.  I have watched him and he has been looking good - much better than a the average second year player.

And we all know pav is a gun.  enough said.  You paid the premium price for him - so like marriage, ride it out for better or worse, richer or poorer.

(I do like the trade btw, I am just saying it definitely comes with a risk factor).

Personally i think it's a terrible idea. Just think about what you are doing here, you are trading out the one and only Mathew Pavlich, he is a DT God. He has averaged over 88 every single year since 2003 and over 90 since 2005 which is absolutely incredible. He is not about to turn into a DT spud and aveeage 70-75, he WILL average over 90 this year without a doubt. Also Think about who you are trading him to, Whitecross only averaged 76 last year which is far less than Pavlich. He is only scoring big and playing in the mids as hodge is out, he should return to his usual self (maybe avg 80+ if you're lucky) when hodge comes back in.

Or Whitecross could have is awesome breakout year just as Fyfe did last year! No one knows you just have to make this big executive decision on your own and ride it!

Windigo

Whitecross could very well be having a breakout season. But C'mon, there should be only one FWD at Hawthorn slaying tons in your dream team FWD line.  :P

Haha, your list of cons is twice as long as your list of pros! I think you answered your own question mate. ;)

Kellogscrunchynut

Keep Swallow for a week or two and maybe if Barlow is priced well and ready to fire make the trade.

yeah i know Pav is a DT god and i've had him year in, year out without him letting me down, its just, to be honest, i expect more out of a 460K player...

Swallow is looking quite good and i don't think his average should change too much i guess so it probably isn't a bad thing hanging on to him for now... and i like your analogy haha!  :P

tbagrocks

already traded Makay for Barlow

lollipop man

afl_freak2

fyfe had his breakout year in his 2nd year

whitecross has played a few good games in a row.

fyfe break out in his snd year and whitecoss is playing his 4th year, the two are miles apart!!

hodge will take whitecross spot when he comes back!?!?!?

tbagrocks

David Makay, good skillful young player! with extra cash had choice of Ebert or Makay at start of year, mistake!! any way, got Barlow now
