Whats everyones thoughts on James Podsiadly, was Pick 50 in the Rookie Draft and selected as a mature age player.
Is there a spot for him in the forward line? He has been impressive for a long time in the VFL with Werribee and this season with Geelong in the 2nds. He could be a wildcard in their forward line if given a chance. He is a left footer and a great shot at goal. I know Mooney also is still lingering but has had the yipes in front of goal as we all know.
I was just thinking Tom Hawkins may get time on the ball in the ruck aswell as playing forward. Podsiadly would be handy i feel, they have given him a chance and the coaching staff at Geelong may have something in mind with him by selecting him as a mature age player.

What are your thoughts?

Not fantasy relevant. Will most likely be kept in the VFL and be used as a replacement if Hawkins or Mooney goes down.

Still, your suggestion of pushing Mooney or Hawkins into the ruck and playing Pods up forward could hold true. Alot will depend on pre-season and VFL showing during the year.

He will definately get games this year. All depends if he fits into cats style of play if he gets more games. Also will put pressure on Gamble.
I think Geelong will keep Hawkins up foward all year. With the big hairy cat only having 1 year left it is time for Hawkins to break out this year and playing in the ruck will not help.

Will he even play? I mean doesnt somebody have to be injured for a rookie to replace them.

You're thinking of rookie elevations. You can elevate a rookie to your senior list if you free up a spot by placing someone on the LTI list. Same goes for the veteran list, I believe.

Mitch Clark has been placed on the long term injury list. So there is a place for Pods

How would Podsi not have been in the AFL any sooner. Since his first kick everyone knew he was going to be a star forward for Geelong.

Could of been a great pick up but Dawes is doing great

Pfft Dawes, we are talking about THE Podsiadly here!

CFC 1979

hows this for a thought

Geelong salary cap tight
Pods a mature aged rookie on rookie wages

GC + GWS have showere loads of cash and room in cap

2011 - Pods offered huge contract with either GC or GWS and leaves the cats. 28 years old and $400 000 + a year would move me

Justin Bieber

At least 2 guys from the cats will move on by the end of the year. Can't possibly keep everybody happy with little cap room to play with.

Pods is gunning it and seems his spot is safe for when stokes comes back in.

Pods and Ablett join Nathan Ablett on the GC for sun & $$$.

Pods wont go anywhere now he has finally established himself.
