Here is my first draft for DT10.  I have gone with the plan of 3 premiums in each row, plus a few mid priced who I think can be keepers and then the cash cows.

Don't like Suban.

Get a rookie in for him instead and either save the cash or use it elsewhere.

Gawn is out for most of the season recovering from his knee reco.  Get Vardy instead if you want a rookie ruck, although he'll be first choice at Geelong.  Better to look at someone who comes through the rookie draft.

Butcher will be good, but I think he'll be more of a supercoach rookie.

im also not to sure about suban, he's an option for me still but we'll have to wait and see but appartntly hes going really well in pre-season

Im not to sure about Maguire, he'll play a fair bit but will average less than 50 ud think, i think a better option would be Mitch Farmer, 10k more and playing at richmond he's bound to game time

Chocko has already said that Pittard wont play much next year if at all, better option would be Phil Davies, has been said to be Andy Ottens replacement

As the previous post said Gawn wont play much so i think a good option would be to pick up Lobbe from Port cause unless they pick up Cloke, Lobbe should play as their 2nd ruckman

I think Suban is going to be a love or hate this year.

Love him if you have him and he does do well (and hate him cos you didnt have him)

or

Hate him if you do have him and he doesnt do well (love him cos you didnt have him)

I think that he will spend a bit more time in the midfield this year because he does have a lovely kick in to the forward 50.  Especially if Pav is going to be playing more in the forward 50 as is the rumour.

Thanks for the heads up on Gawn, hadnt heard much about him.  I wouldnt have thought that Vardy would get much time at Geelong even with Mumford leaving.

Maguire is there as an emergency player and even if he only averages 50 that makes him a good target to upgrade later in the season.

i like the team, few chances for it to fall down but you should be fine. The only change I would make is maybe downgrading Swan (he imo is no chance of keeping that price) to a Cooney/ 380K improver. Then upgrading Seaby to a better Ruckman, maybe a kreuzer or tippet if you want to save some dosh their.

I prob should downgrade Swan, but I want him as my lock & load captain. 

I am also tipping for Seaby & Warnock to push up in value quite well by round 10ish.  Upgrade both to best ruckman available and sit on 2 good rucks for the second half of the year.  (barring injuries of course :P)

Just out of curiosity I had a look at who I would need to downgrade to so I could get Kruezer in the ruck.

Swan - Mitchell
Seaby - Kruezer

I just cant do it.  As much as Sam Mitchell is a gun I cannot pick Hawthorn players in my DT.  If I pick him then put the "Kiss of Death" on him.  I do it every time to Hawthorn players.

If Seaby & Warnock can average 65 each then that will mean they should be priced around $260k each when its time to trade.  That would give me $520k to get a rookie and prem ruck.  If someone like Kruezer is avg 100 his value should only be around $400k, so well within budget. 

Yes... its a double trade but if they avg 75 then I make some extra money (up to $80k) that I wont have to use in upgrading to Swan because I will already have him.

What about Vince (100) and Kruezer(80-85). You then have two keepers, rather than Swan (115) and Seaby (unknown around 60-65).

1 trade is worth more than 60-70K.

I would agrue that although Seaby will go up, Swan will go down.

The idea of DT imo is attempt to start with as many premiums/keepers which you have done, but I reckon the rucks usually fluctuate the least and the mids fluctuate the most. Someone like Daniel Cross was at 320K last year, also Scott Thompson was similar. Both averaged around 105 from that moment on.

I know full well that there is a very good chance that Swan will go down (99.9%) but I am buying him to keep in the side and put a C against him for 22 weeks.  I dont care about his price.

I did look at Vince and he definitely interests me.  Just wondering whether he will cop the #1 tag next season.

yerr but why keep him knowing that he will drop when you have a perfectly good skipper in Bartel. Sorry bud but that money is much needed elsewhere.

can't see both davis and sheppard playing all of the first 10 games. Talia is very raw and craig hates playing rookies, McGuire is a back up imo.

Starting two back rookies is way too much of a risk imo, but if that is your strategy stick with it.

Rumour over here in the west is that Brad Sheppard is going to play in a half back role from round 1.  Phil Davis and Talia are concerns for me, but obviously will have to watch the NAB Cup and Rd 1 team lists before making final selections.  I do believe that Davis is more of a chance to play than Talia.

Maguire is there because he is cheap and I believe he will play.  He is purely there as an emergency to cover for any possible donut (through injury/suspension etc) and then as an upgrade target from mid season onwards.

Even if he averages 45 thats still about an $80k increase which is what you would be hoping to at least get out a rookie, but would be really happy if he can get back to the 60avg like he had in 2006.
