There was talk over the weekend on the local AM radio station this may happen.  He is carrying a minor niggle, nothing serious.  This pretty much confirms he will be rested, and yeah, why risk him against GWS?  On the upside, Giles' score should be good.

Makes perfect sense to me. When will there be a better time to do it then now. The Eagles played Cox into the dirt last year and they payed for it against a much better managed and fresher Geelong side. I'm not a coaches ass but even i know he needs to be managed if they want to have a serious shot during finals. It will be beneficial for Nic Nat also to step up and be number one. I would be very surprised if they played him. Maybe even a Green vest.

This is awful if true.  I already have Mumford as well so if both are out I'm flowered.

If Cox IS rested i'd rather Mumford stay out as well. My opponent in our cash league has him.

If this is true then I am so happy ;D lol

All the top players have Cox and playing Spud Redden everyone will do shower.

While this is a blow for my DT it is a no-brainer IMO.

Teams will definitely be looking at Geelong's model last year when they rested all their key players and had them all raring to go for the finals.

In contrast Collingwood went into the finals with a few injury worries (Jolly anyone) and in the end couldn't match it with the Cats.

Teams in contention for the flag/finals would be smart to rest key players around 3 times this season. Ideally if you could it would be once early in the season against GWS/GC, once during the bye week and once later in the season against GWS/GC.

As an Eagles fan I wouldn't mind them resting Cox this week although I have him in my DT. We are only going to win the flag if our older players (Cox, Kerr, Glass, Embley) are fit and firing all through the finals. If we have to rest them during the season to achieve this then so be it.

yeh he's 30 this yr and in his 12th season.

it looked to me that he was really feeling the load of the season at the end of last year

Like I've said you can count on Gary Ablett playing every game, no rests for him ;D lol
