Cox to be rested

Channel 9's afternoon news mentioned that Cox either could or definitely will be (not sure which, I was holding a crying 3 month old at the time) rested this week against GWS. 4 out of 5 league opponents have either Mumford and Giles or a mix of Kreuzer, Jacobs - they're covered is what i'm saying.

Broughton >> Birch is happening, but i'm thinking that Coniglio >> Masten is a risky move that could pay off, both for short term and long term.

Pros - the Bator should score big against the Giants this week. Would help bolster Redden's ruck points if Cox is rested.
Masten is improving in a top 4 team and will be a keeper if he can continue delivering on his potential.

Cons - would burn all leftover cap cash
         minus 2 trades
Masten could revert to his old ways and leave me holding the proverbial.

Considered opinions and alternatives would be great  :)

That's exactly what I thought. There was a fair amount of preseason talk about him being "managed" throughout the year but I didnt think it would be this early. They might treat this game like a NAB cup hitout, they're a lock to win lol just ask TAB sportsbet.

Looks like it may happen?

Cox and Glass "prime candidates"... As annoying as it is it could be the difference for me in some league games. Any thoughts on the Masten trade lads?

The Grundles

Ah personally wouldn't touch him...is just one of those players who has so much talent but never develops into a DT relevant player.  steer cleer general!

Andrew

This would be amazing if it happened... I'd understand why though.

Eagles will go very close to top 2/4 this year and Cox is way to important to be risking against minnows like GWS....

Off Tap

The article was a piece by Tony Shaw ffs. Nothing from the Eagles at all. Highly doubt the Eagles will be playing with their form so early in the year. Maybe if it was in the back quarter and they had a top 4 position sown up.

+1. It's basically Tony Shaw's opinion.
If you have watched both games, Cox has easily spent more time up fwd- they won't rest him!  ;)

Plastic Boy

Why would they play him, fly him all the over to NSW to play in front of 5,000 people and smash GWS by 150 points.

Nic Nat will carry the ruck duties and they might blood a young ruckman.

Personally I wouldn't bother trading in a mid priced player who isn't going to become a premium keeper.
Coniglio will make you cash and the trade could be wasted.
Concentrate on getting more Premiums who will be with you all year, like you have with Birchall.
Masten won't be in the top ten mids. Top 50?

Yeah that makes sense... I just hate the thought of dropping the first league game. Got to lift my eyes and think long term. Cheers for the feedback

Bones Bombers

No worries!
I am a fan of the premo/rookie structure but i would be interested to know if many have had success with a lot of midpricers?
I haven't seen any of the teams who were talking up midpricers  preseason with decent scores.
