This is my first draft for 2010 dream team, this is my second year and did pretty average last yr. have not selected ne rookies yet and will probably slot some in on the ground at the expensive of some of the lesser players, depending heavily on players pre-season. There is plenty of money in the bank for the rookies and bench positions. Let me know what you think guys!

the mighty saints

COMPETITION: Dream Team       COACH: scottydude       Team value:       Salary cap left: 800k rookies and bench
Backs:
Luke hodge
nick suban(my big pick as a smokey for the yr)
nathan grima(tough going to be a gun)
stephen hill(looks stunning)
alex rance(very well respected and looks fit this yr)
sam fisher
shannon hurn

sheppherd on bench apparently!

mids:
byrce gibbs C
joel selwood VC
tom scully (starting a rookie worked well last yr)
callan ward
tom swift (he is growing on me!!)
rhys palmer

Rucks:
mathew kreuzer
hamish macintosh

Forward:
shaun higgins
mark lecras(going to play up the ground, lots of dt potential)
patrick dangerfield
jack ziebell
cyril rioli
andrew walker
kurt tippet

Let me know how what u think guys!

ill have to drop 1-2 players and replace them with decent rookies or lower priced players to be able to afford my bench but that wont be decided until the NAB cup. starting to take good shape i think, im undecided on buddy franklin or not but i like the rest of the forward line! stephen hill will probably go for a rookie in the backline and free up some cash!

scottydude182,

I like Hodge, Fisher and Grima in defence - A.Walker if he can stay on the ground would be nice for many. Im not to sure about Suban,Hill, Rance.
Maybe another experienced defender would be better.

Midfield is pretty good. Lovett for the Saints in midfield and Half back will be handy for them next year. Mitch Robinson is he a walk up starter for the Blues? Not so sure.. Hayes, Selwood and Rioli are good choices.

Rucks are abit weak with Ottens injurys a concern and Mumford doesnt get much of the ball.

Forwards are okay Jesse Whte was on my list to as a forward but its a unknown how he will handle it there for the whole season. I mean this season he did show great signs in the forward line so thats understandable having him there, can he kick 40-50 goals there? be a good pick up if he can.
Same with Kreuzer he will play alot forward next season and rotating into the ruck. I would chose just one of these guys in the forward line.
You could get another gun in your forward line maybe get rid of White or Kreuzer?
Higgins and Lecras are good picks and Ziebell should play lots next season also coming back from his injury.

Good rough start, something to work on.

i totally agree man with everything u said cept suban he is a LOCK!, played 22 games in his first yr will step it experience. I am thinking about playing some rookies and playing two premium rucks so i can just leave them and not worry about them for the whole yr! my fav player is nick riewoldt but his knee is not 100 percent and he will drop and my plan will be to get him round 7-8. its hard to pick teams this early but i was playing around. preseason form will help. krezuer will stay i reckon and ill drop white for a rookie and take a risk!, gumbleton should play

Kangamagic

Thats good go with your feeling on a player as thats what I do also. Gumbleton will be in alot of teams next season hopefully he can play a season as all of us a glimpse of what he can do being a top draft pick for the Bombers.

I'm with you on Suban i have the same feeling... by all reports hes killing it in PS...i re shuffled my team just to get him in!

i think your justing lacking top shelf quality,

why not put Palmer in he could avg just has much as rioli and cost heaps less and then you could upgrade another player to a premium

scottydude182

i like it hippo just see how his pre season is, this is just a draft, rookies be very handy if there good enough to start!

Just have a look at which position you are naming each player. If you have a player who is cross position, always look to put them in the hardest area to fill. ie the one that has the lowest pool of good players.

My order would be (hardest to easiest)
Ruck, Back, Forward, Mid

So if you want Kreuzer have him in the ruck, Rioli in the forward line.

i.e. Swap Rioli for Kreuzer in the forward-line, then chuck Kreuzer in the Ruck and ditch Mumford (he is a trader anyway) There are plenty or Palmer/Martin types to choose from in that price range for Mids. (Hence why they are the easiest.

ok guys made alot of changes have a look!

I suggest keeping an eye during the NAB Cup to see what role Hurn plays.  Rumour is that Sheppard may be playing that "Quarterback" role, which would mean less long kicks out of defence by Hurn.

I think this may be on the money.  Sheppard looks very much like S. Fisher to me so hopefully he and Hurn could be the next Fisher/Goddard!!!

The way I look at your side is you have too many "keeper" types and not enough true guns. You must look at your team and see how many players you want in your side round 22, ideally you want a minimum of 13-14 players starting finishing in your team. This gives you 8-9 players to upgrade with 20 trades, anymore with injuries and co you will rung out of trades very quickly.

Check out this side for instance.

You have your fair share of premiums, low range keepers but also enough rookies t o make you some money early on.

scottydude182

well if sheppherd is going to get it soo much of it i might throw him in lol! im a lil worried about andrew lovett thinking of him > premium im thinkin of spending a fortune on the mid and having it locked! i dont know lol, its early i want alot of rookies to fire!

Nice Team favourites, i mean footsteps

the whole rookie - premium theory i dont like much. i dont like paying for players at the top of their price, think about this say 25-30 players go up in price (with my side they should) it makes upgrades to the true premiums so much easier. for example my theory is why pick Jimmy b at 500 k and he averages 110 and doesnt go up. ill pick tom swift and rhys palmer for the same price and they could both average 80 and go up in price. (this is a bad example because they dont add up to 500 k but ...its rl late!) this is just my theory, im not sure how it will go but it did ok last yr.
