As with everybody else on this site tonight, I'm looking to trade for the "super rooks" purely through fear of missing the next barlow/curnow...

First trade I'm looking at is Pfeiffer to Milera... Pfeiffer is said to be pushing for a spot, but unless he plays this week I won't see a price rise until after Round 5...

Second trade is to bring in Greene... not as sold on this one, but my choices to trade out are Coniglio (high JS, average scoring, higher starting price means less price upgrade), McDonald (High score, low price, again no price increase until after Round 4), Shiel (Average scores, high potential, lower JS) or Wingard (similar to Coniglio)...

My questions are what are people's thoughts on the trades, and secondly how much do you think a traded player needs to make for you to justify burning a trade so early in the season??

in my team shower all

i worked out that i have 13 rookies in total so that is a minimum of 13 trades, then you say that you might do 5-6 sideways trades just for showers and giggs so we are up to 18 used, that leaves a solid 6 trades in the bank for long term injuries, think i will be flying through the trades this year no need to be a tightarse

Notionally I've always used the $100k figure for a trade.

That a trade should net you at least $100k - or bring a premium into your side to be worth it unless it is to cover a long term injury.

Having said that, rules are there to be broken.

I'm quite pursuaded that Greene will make a fair amount of money in the next fortnight that you won't get from Pfeiffer.

However I'm not sure that Greene will so substantially outperform Coniglio, Shiel, Old Mac or Wingard to justify burning a trade.

I have Shiel, C.Smith, McDonald and Magner as my rookies and aren't going to bring in Greene. I do have pfeiffer like yourself and have been tempted to bring in Milera and probably will if 5fer isn't named this week.

I'm keeping a close eye on my trades this year knowing i have to use 9 in 3 rounds to save myself from as many zero's as I can in those byes weeks lol.

So in my opinion trades need to be thought through carefully, if Greene puts in a sub par performance next week he could be rotated out of the team the next only making you a small amount. Milera also has concerns with Schneider to come back in and also Saad.

how much is a trade worth? well to put a value on it....

id say about three fitty.

I think somewhere between $150-200k. This year they're a bit more important than usual because of the structure of the byes. I plan to try to get ahead during those weeks and key to than plan is having trades in hand.

OK so based on this i think milera can earn 150k more than pfeiffer in the next 6 weeks, what about greene over my current rooks? thats a harder one... im leaning towards trading out mcdonald as im not sold his 98 is sustainable and he is missing two early games, delaying price increases...

Getting Greene while still have Shiel & McDonald means you need a midfield trade in round 11, but so be it. You make a good point that maybe now McDonald can be sold later, but with more and more Giants senior players returning, he could get less gametime than when he scored that 98. Greene has gone bang bang and surely competes with Magner & McDonald for a starting midfield spot - particularly if you're playing 2 out of the 3 like I am..?

Hard for me to make a call on your situation without knowing your mids, but generally a midfield rookie averaging over 100 after the first 2 games is worth getting in if you have someone worthless to get rid of (as Dickson appears to be).
