for the record, I'm actually keeping him- golby is a more pressing concern for me :P

Apparently Golby's breakeven is only 40. He won't have Ballantyne to worry about v Freo this week and on the wide expanses of Subiaco could get some loose ball. Broughton's either a sell or forever hold your keep I think, and the scoring from his last season still took a while to pick up. Good luck in holding him, but I'm taking Marty Clarke for him while I still can.

Have you posted in every Broughton thread on here that your trading him for Clarke? We get the picture mate.

There's another option... Using MPP to trade Broughton for a midfielder or forward (if you have Tomlinson or Smedts)

you wouldnt take heppell?

why not?

heppells doing well enough for his price, aka holding his average, but isnt really looking to explode, which is what you'd want from the trade (ftr I started with heppell)

I have an even simpler summary.

Don't trade.

JFYI

Broughton's scores last year:

1 - 79
2 - 61
3 - 56
4 - 55
5 - DNP
6 - BYE
7 - 50
8 - 71
9 - 92
10 - 120
11 - 117
12 - 90
13 - 46
14 - 139
15 - 149
16 - BYE
17 - 114
18 - 96
19 - 102
20 - 57
21 - 71
22 - 51
23 - 62
24 - 89

Basically what this sums up is he is one inconsistant bugger and you just don't know what you're gonna get with him.  Huge ceiling and basement bottom...if you took the risk, stick with him, it could pay off...if not...perhaps wait until round 10 to trade him in ;)
I don't see why t.f. anyone put him in their team in the first place!

Good thread.

There is however one player you missed in your analysis Zip.

If Broughton is flowering you off and you want to trade him out after two games (which I won't) then why not pick up Nathan Bock who is returning from a two-game suspension this week and was played as a forward in the NAB Cup.

Given Gold Coast haven't looked good going forward Bock could be the main man up front. And with Ablett in midfield he will get plenty of balls coming his way.

If he hadn't been suspended to start the season I would have definitely considered him over Broughton. I think Bock would make a great unique pick up if you're going to pull the trigger.

Thought i better post in this thread to get it to the top of the list again .. so people read it   ;)

you see that BIG chunk of GOOD scores, well that was when Broughton was released to run on the ball in that place called the MIDFIELD.

We all got a nice article talking to Lyons a few days before lockout round 1 talking about how Broughton had already made the move to an onballer last season and how he would play midfield on the ball this season.

Of course it was all shower. same old broughton will be used like the dog he is wherever the coach needs him most, pity he isnt out of contract or he could like so many others have said "put me in the middle or i'll go to GWS" ;D

no one to blame but ourselves nothing in print in AFL is ever what it seems. Time to accept the broughton that was and trade him out, or hold onto him in the hope of another stint on the ball... optimistic IMO with the two M's coming back in...

Capper

Just blame Ross Lyonfor his role in the team

never looked like he would be a consistent scorer to me, will he make you any money if you keep him this weekend, or is it best to jump off the boat and onto another one with some more cash on it

lot of flowers in this thread  :o
looks like last year he was slow to warm up, then drilled it, then fell away. Looking the same this year. ???
