yeah not to bad! more refining is needed

you have not left yourself enough money by the looks of it to pick any top 10 draft picks, IMO take out one premium player out of your middle and one premium out of you forward line i.e. Burgouyne/Harvey then put no.1 draft Trengrove starting in the FWD line and maybe Cunnington aswell (i have done this as both should start straight up) in regards to Burger maybe put in the likes of Cotchen/Palmer/Daizell/many others and all should go up in price and cost less.

every man and his dog will have the likes of Ladson/Kennelly/Hunt. (including me but not Ladson)
If you have those 3 you may aswell throw in Waters too, as mentioned above with the mid replacement you could throw in ladson instead of Burger and then put Waters in the BACK that should free up 300 od to really pick the right rookies.....what i mean is you don't want to restrict yourself to the 100 and under rookies.

haha hope this makes sense just typing as i think it.

the structure just isn't quite there yet, you have the right Prem's but that is the easiest thing to do as they are proven performers, its getting the balance in the rest of the team thats the hard part

cheers

give gram, burgoyne, pavlich and harvey the flick i reckon, all 4 well past their best i believe possible replacements could be scully for burgoyne to free up some cash gram to shaw harvey to didak and then pav to goodes

Hippo great advice about not having any top 10  draft picks, I did see that as a possible weakness, so good to have it confirmed from outsider's perspective. I just need to work out who to cull to provide the cash.

Cameron, thanks for your advice. You may be right about Burgoyne but his 3 previous seasons were superb (all +100 ave.) Gram is only 25 and cheap, so I'm not keen to offload him.....yet. I think Pav is still a gun and better value for money than Goodes. Didak for Harvey?.......... Maybe you are right, but Harvey is just too dam cheap to ignore. A lot depends on what Brad Scott's plans are for him I guess.

Great advice please keep it coming guys, its great to get different perspectives

Wilkopolis

Are you missing 2 emergency players in the forward line??

hibbo

Seems like a very expensive team!? Are you sure you have enough cash to fill the vacant rookie spots?

@ Cameron - how can you say gram is passed his best? He's just coming into his prime now, starting to play as a midfielder. Pavlich is a worthy choice, was played out of position this year and there's talk that he will go back to his normal CHF spot.

Speculator

Wilkopolis, yes you are right, I actually have 2 $94k rookies on my forward line bench.

Hibbo, yes I can afford all the players, (It makes me think I have a good team if you think I can't afford it!! ha ha ha) ....... I selected it using the fan planner. The problem is that all my rookies are $94k (with one $83k) so I can't afford any high draft choices without changing some things. I think I'm just gonna skim some fat by changing Murphy for Gibbs, Enright for Fisher, and maybe O'Keefe for Fev or Higgins. Then I can go for Scully, Trengove etc.

BradStar

you could have money trouble which leads to trade trouble. You have tons of choices above, but i although i haven't seen all prices and so many fantasy teams i am wondering about Franklin?

@Hibbo and Cameron
He will go back to CHF again if freo start playing football.

Speculator

Bradstar, what do you mean that if I have money trouble I will have trade trouble? Are you suggesting I should keep some money in the bank at the start of the season? I.e. don't use all my salary cap?

Kangamagic

I think thats a pretty good team Speculator, be interesting to see who your rookies will be - but a very good team as picked.

It looks like a very good team to me, hence why I questioned the price. Maybe it's because players like Harvey, Franklin, Gilbee are all good enough to be premiums, but are currently underpriced.

The more expenisve rookies aint' always the best option (see Broughton this year), however higher picks usually lead to more games so I'd invest some cash into them especially in your forward line considering you will start two rookies.

I'm treating Burgoyne with suspicion.  Firstly, he's not getting any younger and getting over a serious injury could take awhile.  Also, in his great years at Port he was nearly a one-man midfield.  So much of the play was directed through him, hence big scores.  The Hawthorn setup will be much different, I think, with Mitchell, Sewell, Hodge, Burgoyne sharing the load.  I know on his record he's attractive at the price but I just don't have a good feeling about him. I think McVeigh or Palmer could be better choices and you save some money.

Hibbo - Yes my strategy is to go for the least expensive premiums I can get (except Ablett), and then hopefully pick up the more expensive premiums after a  couple of bad games when they are cheaper. Consistent with that strategy, I've swapped Enright out for Fisher, and Murphy out for Gibbs, just to give me an extra $70k - $80k to provide some room to move for last minute changes. I looked at the top supercoach teams from last year and they generally have all premiums on the ground, no rookies or mid priced players. So just trying to get as many premiums as possible in the starting 22 and then ofcourse cross my fingers about injuries. I think you just need to squeeze the absolute most out of your cash. Last year was my first year and made some monumental mistakes (recruiting Kossie into my ruck for about $460k a prime example).

Ronl - I know what you are saying about Burgoyne. A lot depends on the pre-season and yes I have identified those 2 players, and Dalziell, as possible replacements, depending on the who performs in the Nab Cup.

BradStar

Speculator, what i mean is sometimes when you need different players, you trade someone out to gain extra cash to by the next one, you have a good strategy and with Enright out for fisher and Murphy out for Gibbs, just to get a bit of money was a good choice, do that plan.
Very nice team though.
