ok so with all the threads asking about who to pick as captain and loopholes, etc. i thought it would be interesting to see which Teams the Top 10 Premiums from last year love to play and who they hate, over their careers.

From last year the Top 10 Midfielders are:
Swan
Pendles
Boyd
Ablett
Rockliff
Mitchell
Murphy
Selwood
Redden
Thommo

OPPOSITION

Adelaide
** I didn't include Thommos score of 59 against Adelaide (when he use to play for Melbourne)
Top 10 Average = 93.02
Highest = Selwood 107.7
Lowest = Boyd 71.9

Brisbane
Top 10 Average = 92.28
Highest = Boyd 104.2
Lowest = Swan 84.2

Carlton
Top 10 Average = 95.06
Highest = Swan 109.3
Lowest = Redden 76.3
** Reddens score last night was included.

Collingwood
Top 10 Average = 90.32
Highest = Selwood 97.8
Lowest = Redden 82

Essendon
Top 10 Average = 94.32
Highest = Selwood 110.2
Lowest = Boyd 79.4

Fremantle
Top 10 Average = 94.9
Highest = Swan 111.4
Lowest = Thommo 88.3

Gold Coast
Top 10 Average = 118.7
Highest = Thommo 140.3
Lowest = Redden 91

Geelong
Top 10 Average = 87.68
Highest = Murphy 100.2
Lowest = Redden 76.3

Hawks
Top 10 Average = 99.4
Highest = Selwood 110.9
Lowest = Rockliff 93.5

Melbourne
Top 10 Average = 93.19
Highest = Rockliff 105.8
Lowest = Boyd 75.7

North Melbourne
Top 10 Average = 93.57
Highest = Swan 101.4
Lowest = Ablett 84

Port
Top 10 Average = 95.49
Highest = Redden 112
Lowest = Mitchell 79.1

Richmond
Top 10 Average = 97.63
Highest = Redden 122
Lowest = Boyd 82

St Kilda
Top 10 Average = 94.14
Highest = Redden 122.5
Lowest = Thommo 80.6

Sydney
Top 10 Average = 88.78
Highest = Rockliff 110.5
Lowest = Thommo 71.5

Bulldogs
Top 10 Average = 89.87
Highest = Pendles 97.6
Lowest = Redden 59.6

Eagles
Top 10 Average = 100.4
Highest = Swan 113.1
Lowest = Selwood 89.5

From these stats, the Bulldogs seem to hold their own against the Top 10 with a highest average of only 97.6 (from Pendles) and the total average across 9 players being 89.87. Only Geelong (87.68) and Sydney (88.78) beat this.

And (apart from GC at 118.7) it is West Coast who are the Top 10's team of choice with an total average of 100.4. Hawthorn are also up there at 99.44.

Well there you have it. Obviously these are averages from the Top 10's whole careers so take do not fairly portray players that struggled early in their career and are now dominating. Also Redden and Rockliff, being so young, haven't played many games against all teams or witnessed some teams at their highest/lowest (eg. Saints - Both Redden and Rockliff didn't play the Saints in 2009 and only once in 2010 when Saints were at their best).

yeh it was in general, not specifically for this round

Torpedo10

Very nice, I would think Stanton is getting close to Redden tho, Maybe even a better scorer But by going on last years results Redden scores slightly better.

Bit harder to compare Redden to the others tho .. last year was only his second year (3rd) .. first year he only played 8 games

Holz

I think what this shows is how good a player selwood is, if he can lift to a 120 average I think he could be one of the best Dters of all time.
Also shows why you dont put pick a captain playing Sydney

I dont think anymore with no Lyon and Stkilda not being the team they used to be.

Kuruki

I would have thought Boyd would have highest avg against Freo. He racks up against them.

Yeh he had two scores of 150+ last year. His scores earlier in his career against Freo hurt him

Boyd really does hate Adelaide, it will be interesting to see if history repeats tomorrow arvo
