Broke many of the rules of SC that so many people talk about ...

I doubt there was much left in the kitty at the start:

4 premium defenders
4 premium mids
2 premium rucks
5 premium defenders

Also had some really crap picks like Hunt, Pittard, Atley, Bewick, Astbury ...
Didn't check but pretty sure there were better rookie options.

many of the top players will make moves like that to try and get ahead like trading swan out rd 7 last yr and getting him back rd 14 after his 2 byes.
