Hey

All the trade activity this year got me thinking about value picks for Supercoach 2010. The team I have put together is full of players I am hoping increase in value quickly without compromising the weekly score too much.  Would appreciate your comments.  Guys in bold I am still mulling over

Defenders
Corey Enright
Luke Hodge
Nathan Bock
Josh Hunt
Jessie Smith
Andrew Raines
Sam Fisher
(kid)
(kid)

Midfield
Gary Ablett
Adam Cooney
Shaun Burgoyne
Luke Ball
Brent Prismall
Anthony Morabito
(kid)
(kid)

Forwards
Matthew Pavlich
Lance Franklin
Brett Deledio
Steve Johnson
Scott Gumbleton
Austin Wonaeamirri
Robert Murphy
(Jack Watts)
(kid)

Rucks
Aaron Sandilands
David Hille
(Jason Laycock)
(Robbie Warnock)

Some Notes:
- $236K remaining in bank
- Jessie Smith & Luke Ball's inclusion entirely dependant on being traded to another club
- Will monitor Raines to see if it's likely he will get regular games
- Still tossing up whether to swap Watts for Wonna and insert another kid in the forward line bench

take r.murphy out and use your money on someone better

Thanks, Robert Murphy is a bit of a wildcard.  Two reasons I picked him were 1) $350K walk up starter in a decent team.  With a full preseason and a better run with injuries he should definitely increase in value making him prime for an upgrade and 2) Of the remaining gun forwards, they are either risky due to high starting price (Goodes, Leon, Chappy & Roo), changing dynamics (Fev & Brown) or add to the already large number of players I have picked returning from injury (Harvey).

Of the remaining forwards on offer I would opt for Mitch Clark, but they're is no guarantee he'll play on ball as much as 09.  Plus, he's better picked as a ruck.

Thats a pretty good team, but yeah i'd have to agree with HillHero13.
Definitly take out R. Murphy and put someone better in. Also i dont reckon you should have shaun burgoyne. He is pricy and will drop in value because i dont think he'll fit in the Hawks midfield.
there are other quality midfielders that you could put in instead of him...

BradStar

this is what i play to but maybe its different to you, you might have to do alot in that midfield during the year. Another PowerHouse is needed but i havent seen the prices though.

Wilkopolis

According to the team planner prices for next year Shaun Burgoyne should be priced south of $450K which is a steal for someone who averaged 100+ the last three seasons prior 2009.  Assuming he gets back for a decent pre season he'll be good value at worst and a keeper at best.  I'm surprised I haven't seen him in more speculative SC teams.

Do agree though that I'm short a gun in the midfield.  It's looking less and less likely Ball will move from Saints (why he'd stay baffles me) so he'd be the obvious upgrade to a $600K player (Murphy, Selwood, Bartel, Gibbs all good).  I'd still keep $100K in the bank which is sweeeet

2 strikes for Murphy.  Hmmmmmm

I have Murphy in atm. So that's 2 for, and 2 against!

BradStar

again i havent seen the prices but what about JB. if Fev is cheap what about him?

Now 3 against .. he's a good player when right but too injury prone for me

Wilkopolis

Bradstar, I assume you're talking about splurging some extra cash & upgading Murphy to JB or Fev.  I considered this, but I think there is massive uncertainty at the moment as to how the BL forward line is going to sort itself out.  I'm not willing to bet a 500K player into that scenario.  In any case, I already have 4 full priced guns listed.  I would rather use the last three forward spots on guys who'll gain a bit of value & then upgrade later.  If Murphy isn't that man then I would look for another cheap option - perhaps Watts, Yarran or one of the rookies like Trengrove or Butcher.

Injury is a consideration Prospector - especially in a team carrying Hunt, Gumby, Hille, Smith.....

BradStar

im not sure if you played last year but did you have JB in your starting 22? With Bradshaw he was still getting huge points. (unless this year he is overpriced)

Speculation but with Fev @ F F, Brownie will be roaming a bit more like say a Pavlich. Have to wait for the preseason tho.

Wilkopolis

Couldn't get JB into the 22 this season - was always top of my list to trade up to, but long term injuries cruelled me and I couldn't free up the trade.  JB and Bradshaw had played together for a long time and there were no surprises.  The dynamics will change a bit with Fev in the team.  Generally JB starts a little slow, so I will look to upgrade after a few rounds - hopefully Watts or Wonna will jump up to $300K making the trade possible.

Pav had to slim down a fair bit to play through the midfield.  Do you think JB is capable of the same?

BradStar

yes fev is a bit greedy, thats why he loved carlton. No i dont think he will play midfield, mainly because other then fev they have no big targets.

Like your team, i would get rid of Robert Murphy also, but you never know it could be his year.  I wouldn't pick Hille either, with Ryder doing alot of the ruck work, can't see Hille getting much of the ball

Good mids and def.
