PB's Special Mentions: Round 1

I started something like this late last year and will look to go through with it this season if it stays popular. I simply will just state the players/teams that deserve a special mention. 90% of the time it will be fantasy related.


I'll start with my midfield smokie, Sam Blease, thankyou for producing a solid 20 points.
Scott Pendlebury and Gary Ablett. both excellent captain choices, got my side out of a deep hole.
Kevin Sheedy for having down-time in the GWS game style. Giving some of the players cheap +6's.
Hayden Ballantyne for flopping with Matty Scarlett. Pretty much assures Buddy of 120 next week.
And Port Adelaide for winning. :D

Loved Hanleys 120 after having him in and out of my team during the preseason

Loving my uniques in Birchall (118 points) & Rockliff (130) who are both in 8% and 4.2& of teams!

However over the first 3 lockouts I did some last minute panic trades which are costing me so far in:

Fyfe OUT & Goodes IN - Fyfe smashed out a massive 124 to Goodes' 84.
Carrzzo OUT & Goddard IN - Carrots pumped out a 106 to Goddard's 96 and it cost me 20k.
Waters OUT & Shaw IN - Waters got 83 to Heaters awful 56, so I payed an extra 116k for a decrease of 27 points!

How about my Forward smokie, Clancee Pearce. What a knob! I thought this was his year to shine.
Delisted last year, drafted again, promoted days before the game, in the team - seemed like it was all adding up.
THEN.... 16 points, red vest, probably dropped too. He might as well give up.

Im pretty happy with my teams results despite Shaw scoring poorly. I dont think its an issue at the moment and will wait and see how he goes in more than one game before making any rash decisions...

Fielding Coniglio, Tory Dickson and Ellis hurt but that blow was softened by some impressive scores by Bugg, Kennedy and Magner.

So there are many positives and negatives. The only thing i didnt like was that Redden got subbed off in the port game making me earn 9 less points to Giles but life goes on.

All in all, i personally didnt have many let downs. Bring this season on!

Can i give a shout out to old mac don ald as he has destroyed my mids. Now he and Parker are out for atleast 2 weeks and now with Magnar maybe not playing i might enjoy some donuts.

Had bugg, Mcdonald and Kennedy on field, Magner on bench.

Will swap Ellis off field for Marty Clarke and will do ok.

I didnt have any smokys really, just golby but i got a lotta fails : Shaw, Ellis, Shiel, Broughton just to name a few(theres more)
Last minute lockout Kennedy>Cameron :( ..
also juggled between Jelwood, Mitchell, Thommo and Rocky bfore lockout, of course the one i choose has to score lowest!! (Dw, sellwood was solid and he'll come good though)

Condolences mate, I'm in the Cameron boat as I went GWS happy before 1st lockout because you just couldn't be sure which other rookies - particularly forward rookies - would play, let alone start on the ground. But Jezza Cameron was always going to be a 30-50 man... Not the worst pick if your other rookie picks are perfect as he has awesome job security, but definately better picks out there. I'm considering this week downgrading Ellis to someone 85k, just so I can afford Cameron -> Callinan. Giving Ellis & Cameron another week to "prove" themselves seems like a waste of time if you're going for overall ranking (not a league win).
