True..
But I do want to dominate in finals!

I'm going to leave alot of trades for finals and I want to leave alot of cash for them also. basically I have Giles and Redden on the bench, Whoever has most cash for me in round 15 I'm going to downgrade to an 85k guy and I'll still have 1 of the 2. I think it is critical to have alot of trades for finals, that's why you want to set your starting side well. 1 thing I'll do is if Wilkes doesn't play I'
ll trade him for either Guthrie or Mohr or Clarke.

I see a lot of talk on here about saving trades. While I agree you shouldn't knee jerk too much, I think it's taken to the other extreme too much. 6 trades for finals I believe is too much.

I would rather have a perfect team by round 14 with only a handful of trades, than a worse one while clinging on to my trades.

My plan: 7 trades during byes, 9-10 for up/down (the byes are also all up/down), 4 LTI/suspensions, 3-4 fixing my team early.

Get rid of under-performers early. Less spuds, less worries. Less trades, but you'll have a team you can stick by, and will do very well. That's what I think, what's your opinion on using early trades Colli?

Colliwobblers

I'm dead against using trades early - pick the right team you don't need to  ;D

Facy is that won't happen for most of us - hasnt happened for me, I'll use my SC as an example.

Howard - Injury - Trade to best rook I don't have - round 2.
Zorko - notplaying - Speculative pick that didn't come off - Trade round 1. to best fwd rook i don't have
Ledger - notplaying - if he plays round 2 he stays if he doesnt he will be traded to best mid rook i don't have in round 2.
Lake - shoer - if he plays even half well round 2 if he doesn't he may get dropped and isnt doing anything for me anyway trade round 2, or later.

Because I have

howard i WILL nedd to trade out
Ledger i MIGHT need to trade out
Zorko i WILL need to trade out

I have had to pull a round 1 trade, no way i am having an injured or non playing player in my team over a gun playing cash cow before the price rise.

So in case i have to trade both howard and ledger next round before the price rise i traded out zorko this round so I have the two trades available for ledger and howard if needed next round

Am I happy... NO  >:( Was this the right decision I THINK SO. Can't have a shower team with trades left absolutely NO POINT.

Use the trades wisely and stringently and hate when you have to but DO use them.

There was someone, I actually thought it was you, talking about how the guy who won SC used all his trades early. Basically had none by R12, but had a fantastic team that saw him through.

yes impromptu last years winner had 2 trades left after round 14 and was sitting around 8th at that time, withour using any more trades actually went up to and finaly stayed in 1st place.

Long term injuries after round 12-14 are the only reason you should have any trades left at all. If going for overall score.

Playing for league wins only then you want to hold onto more trades as different strategy.

Saying impromptu won by using all his trades early is only part of it, he not only used them early but used them effectively.

I'll use mine sparingly but ANY time there is a trade i can do to strengthen my team immediantly and for the long term i'll do it
