Shaw/Broughton OR Waters + 145k?

Ok so im sitting on 877 from 11 (1 rook to come) at the moment and I have worked out at BEST I will end up on around 2050. I have 145k in the bank and am thinking of upgrading Waters to a Gun Defender to try and maximise my round 1 score... Is this a good move? Or should I keep my backline and pocket the cash for an early upgrade, injuries, etc?

Green = Mid-pricer
Black = Rooks

DEF: Goddard, Deledio, Birchall, Waters, Hargrave, Ellis (Clarke, Morris)

OR should I upgrade Waters to Shaw/Broughts? Which would give me a Backline of...

I would definitely do the upgrade, but as for whom: personally i like broughton this year as it seems there could be quite a bit of upside if he is given a good role + he has never averaged below 84 in his first 3 seasons, hence have picked him in my team. Shaw is also a good option, i think either way will have a good outcome as waters is quite injury prone and is also unlikely to score as well - wouldn't think he would end up a quality keeper come the end of the year...

Keep Broughton. If he transfers his NAB form into the season proper he will better value than Birch IMO.

you only named 8 backmen, so i guess the other is a rookie?  i would gamble with waters and keep the cash for a early upgrade.
  waters wont go down in price and may average in the 80's which will make him keeper/late trade, or he'll average 70's and with his good JS be a useful backmen till after bye time.
the premiums u mentioned wont go up in price too much(if at all). so u can start with waters and if after 4-5 weeks its not working out you maybe able to(with the cash in the bank) go str8 trade to a premium then

But don't go waters just to keep the cash in the bank if you cant use it upgrade to Shaw for mine but if broughton stays in the on ball role he will outscore Shaw... Not sure that will happen when Mundy and possibly Morabito both return tho
