Just a question... Whats actually stopping someone from having 10 different supercoach teams under different accounts? Would be a sure way to push for the overall win being able to swimg both ways on some of those 50/50 decisions..

P.s no im not thinking of doing this im just curious
I personally barely have the time or patience for one team let alone multiple teams

Irrelevant..
I mean is there actually something stopping someone from cheating like this and winning 50k..
Surely they look into the top 10 teams to make sure there is nothing like this going on

Peter

Well, you will need 10 different email addresses to start with and still be as lucky as all hell to win the $50k

thewizz

Personally don't have a problem with it - see how you go pitting 2 totally different teams against yourself???

It takes 10 seconds to make a hotmail account.. and you would still have to have some luck but if you look at most of the good teams they only have slight changes so you could cover a lot of different options with a number of teams.
I actually just want to know if there is something they do to stop this. Im sure if not then there will be people doing it.. someone would have done it before and had one of his teams come close to winning or possibly even won. Who knows!

everytime you log in your IP address is recorded on a server.

10 accounts, 1 IP Address with 10 hotmail accounts.

If you won they might quiz you on that, then you may need to produce 10 people living in the same house with the same names of the hotmail accounts...

good luck to any one with that.

read the rules, it states it in the term and conditions of playing the game..
If a rule is stated and you knowingly break it then you are cheating & you will not receive any prize won if you are found to have multiple teams.

you can not be proud of your rank if say 1 of your 10 teams got into the the top 100, as you would have hedged your bets so to speak

Its un ethical to cheat and isn't fair to others who play the game in fairness to the rules! so i would say its totally relevant to your question because more than likely is those things that would stop you from entering more than one team.

Yea this is the sort of thing I was talking about.. I would hope that they would look into it but dont know if they actually would. Is there actually a rule against it?

Yes there is

Hippo

Yeah there is!

i have known in yrs gone by when a player has had a number of teams Virtual Sport/Herald Sun, whoever it is has deleted all there teams bar one.... i think they left this dudes highest ranking team, i would have like to see him left with the lowest ranking team out of the bunch.

Lets be honest you prob could get away with 2-3 teams in your house with dif emails but it is cheating.

imagine you won the ute or the weekly prize and you forfeit it because you had one extra team that was ranked 20k or some shower

demon_spud

HUN will start charging to play Supercoach, so that will stop people.

You read plenty of stories about 'sons' 'wives' 'daughters' teams. Especially last year with the byes and people loading teams up to win them.  This will happen again, just look at the teams that won some of the weeks and where they were ranked.

People eventually get found out, so no biggy.

bowyanger

I dont think there is anything they can do.

I know someone that doesnt have internet at home and uses the public library to play SC...so that chucks IP adress issue out the window.

One thing Im curious of is when someone wins, do they have to provide proof of identity...even if its for the 1K / week prize?

I have seen teams that have the coaches name as something silly that wouldnt be their real 1st name. If that team won, with a fake coach name, the highest score for the week, would they still be able to collect?

If they made it a rule that you had to provide your proper personal details to receive any prizes, then provide proof of identity, including a residential address, at time of collection, then this issue would surely go away.

I am dead against people having more than 1 team, it became obvious to me that this was happening in a league I was in about 3 seasons ago...ruined everyone elses fun in the league.

Im pretty sure that places that have many PC's logging into the 1 router, IP adresses change over a certain period of time.
I found this out as Ive tried to monitor internet usage on a student business I have in the past. I couldnt identify who was downloading all the porn as the IP addresses were not consistant over a period of lets say 3 months (i think it changed every month or so)

i have no doubt that there are person/s who are running hundreds if not more teams to win weekly and overall prizes.
also alot of people i have seen who have said"its hard to look after one team, let alone 20" . trust me its not that hard to run 50 teams, they dont have the hard decisions to make, because they can just cover many different options.
the other thing i hate is teams that are created just for a weekly prize. last year a team with no previous rank from the week before won the weekly prize(and you know its not their only team).  it ruins the integrity of the comp and for the 80% of people that are doing the right thing
