With all the focus on Judd, Murphy and maybe Scotland, does this release Gibbs and give him a great opportunity to increase his PPG to be in the top 10 at least for mids?

Judd usually takes 2 players at ball ups.

A bit cheaper compared to the current top 10.

Increasing PPG / $ spent is the winning formulae.

Most of the current top 10 would find it more difficult to increase PPG from their starting point than Gibbs

Blues have a great draw

Ratten has talkied him up pre season more than once, which is a bit wierd.....youd think hed wanna keep it quiet?

Gibbs seems to have served his apprenticeship and is ready to go BANG.

He scored very well running off half back. Surely he will do better from the guts?

Theres not much going round FF about Gibbs.

Ive been considering him for a while but has never been in my side....yet

Thing is....who do I replace from ASwallow, GAblett, JSelwood or SMitchell?

tor01doc

To replace a proven midfield gun with a run with a defender only listed as a mid in SC who has potential but a lot of competition and few others in the team who can do his job down back - no.

Yeah good point, I guess Im believing the coach when he says Gibbs will play mainly in the guts this year with Yarran & Carrots sharing his previous role

Thank you for giving me a slap in the face to wake me up

Never believe the bollox a coach comes out with.

When things go pear shaped, which I think they will because of the injuries the Blues have & have had during pre season (Gibbs, Murphy & Judd have all had interrupted pre seasons), they will go for Mr Fix It to stop the bleeding in the backline probably.

Im still gonna win our league tho bud

Ratts was saying the exact same thing about Murphy last year.
Look how that turned out  :P

murphy never played anywhere but midfield the whole time he has been at Carlton though...sure sometimes he rested forward...but didnt start games away from the mid like gibbs started in the backline

kilbluff1985

I think with Carltons injury problems down back he'll spend most of his time in defense

Yeah Gibbs is in danger of having a slow SC start. With so many injuries in the backs he will likely play there for a few weeks. Depends on his role too but I'd wait on Gibbs.

Hot_Dogs

I like your thinking Bowyanger.

I thought about Gibbs too, he is "deliciously" priced if he gets to a 115ppg level this season.

That said, I don't think I would put him in over any of your current premiums.

Kinda becomes a Selwood/Swallow vs Swan/Gibbs debate to some extent though.

Risk reward really, because if Gibbs doesn't really fire, you will have to waste a trade and cash for sure to pickup a player that is firing in the mids.  If he does, then you got a Selwood to Swan upgrade for free...

Gibbs 91% DE v Tiges

Impressive
