HEAR ME OUT!
having real doubts on Broughton and what his role will be in the side once Barlow, Mundy, Morabito, Neale come back but I can see a lot of upside in Bock. He can push out some huge scores when he gets going and i think the move forward might help!
I was trying to play around with my rookies to free up some cash but im really set on them all, the only real option i have is to downgrade Redden to Stephenson and then upgrade Broughton to Bock
I have $2,600 left atm and if I do this trade I have the exact same cash left over with Bock and Big O
I have Mohr and Morris on the bench and after Mohrs showing against Sydney I have some confidence in his ability to at least hold up a spot in round 2 so Bock can sit on the pine
Backs: BJ, Dids, Heater and ?
Rucks: Big Cox, Mummy

What do people think of this trade?

Did you seriously consider Neale to be infront of Broughtan for a midfield spot?

meow meow

Big Bock will take a crapload of contested marks if he plays at FF. Could kick 60 goals too.

felsty

i would rather pick KNOWN premiums who can rip out big scores.. dont wanna have to trade them out later on because they arent pulling their weight and wanna save trades as well

I have set and forget rucks so its not like redden would be hugely important to me, the only downside would be that he will prob score more than Big O..

and no i didnt pick him in front of broughton but it is another player coming back who will be rotating through the midfield

What you mean once neale comes back? he hasnt even played a game yet! i swear some of you people try and think of reason not to pick players instead of finding reason why to pick them. seriously saying neale has more of a hold on a mid spot than broughton... WTF!!!

I don't think there is going to be a heck of a lot of difference between Broughton and Bock to be honest!!
Difference is that Bock will miss the first two rounds ... why cop a zero after spending all that money when you don't need to ... esp. when there is someone like Broughton who you can pick.

The difference between the best and the 2000th best team in SC is not Broughton v Bock ... it is 3 rookies v two guns rucks or nailing Parker, McCarthy, Sidebottom, Dangerfield, Hale, Masten, Malceski, Lake, Hargrave, Bower, Guthrie, M.Clarke and the list goes on and on of players who MIGHT end up killing it this year!!

felsty

the way i see it broughton is still an uncertainty, and i pick my premiums at the start of the year as keepers.. i dont wanna swap out broughton through the year because he has started his rollercoaster backline form again like the last couple of years! he has a new coach and through PRESEASON has had a new midfield role but is that going to change? WHO KNOWS! if he was going to play mids all year round he would be up there with scotland, deledio and goddard but for all we know he might not, preseason isnt something i put a whole lot of trust in..

so the way i see it bock has a lot less risk involved with his position in his team and the role he plays, whether its the general in the back or the main focus in attack, while really if you think about it the drop down from redden to stephenson isnt that much of a risk considering i have mumford and cox..

btw i never said neale is in front of broughton because that is ludicrous, i was making the point that if these midfielders come back into the team what does it mean for broughtons scoring?
as to copping zeros - why not? if mohr gets another 80 odd im, what, 20 points behind what broughton would have got and i have a POD against my opposition in my backline that is a good supercoach player

felsty

also i didnt see this but i can downgrade lake to hargrave and keep bock and redden :S

jabroni

are u just wanting bock for mohrs score off the bench because thats what its sounding like given the better options around that price

Why all the sudden doubt about him? There's room for him in the midfield.

Mundy and Barlow will play as ruck rovers and Broughton could very well line up as the centre. Mzungu + Hill to play off the wings, Fyfe on a half-forward flank pushing into the middle. Ballantyne to go back to a small forward role (don't buy the hype of his supposed midfield role, they need him more up forward). Even if Broughton doesn't start in the midfield, no doubt in my mind he'll get significant minutes in there when the midfielders are benched.

... and even if Broughton plays in the back line, as long as he isn't lockdown, I can still see him getting reasonable scores, especially with Lyon's influence

felsty

I have just had doubts on him all preseason.. Just getting cold feet I suppose! I think the poll speaks for itself, thanks guys!
