I thought it was a great bump.  If this was the 80's or 90's we would all be treating him like a hero.  flowering person game we have now.  You should expect to get hit once in a while when playing footy, and if not then the sport isn't for you.

Couldn't agree more. Haven't actually seen the bump myself but given that McDonald was part of the problem last year, I still hope he cops it.

As much as I like shirtfronts and bumps as a spectacle the league now has a duty of care to protect the head and fortunately this is how the game is going. And I personally agree with this improvement in the game as so many young players are so gung ho for the game they do not take any consideration in this regard. How many ex players are now feeling the effects of their careers years later?  I speak from experience with a third of my eyesight gone.

I want him to get several week, just cause I don't have him  8) lol

And he would make a good cash cow in the later rounds.

just saw the bump on Parker, JMAC should get 2 weeks i think. It was high and he wasnt going for the ball. Should have got the free kick as well

All you people in favour of suspending him should go watch basketball. Obviously contact sports aren't for you.

I understand this, but it has literally gone from one extreme to the other.  Back in the day you would probably get dragged if you did make the bump McDonald made.  These days you get two weeks just by looking at a player.  We need to find a happy medium somewhere, so the big hits can remain in the game and people aren't scared to make them in fear of getting weeks, even when it's most likely a good hit.

Shirt fronts are ok, not when you don't have the ball and aren't looking though.

not watching basketball as its not a proper sport

i enjoy a good bump as much as the next bloke, but contact sports aren't just about taking each other out.

but we arent in the 80's or 90's are we?  why dont we let them punch it out too? its not about being soft. plenty of big hits that are fair and in the spirit of the game and legal. watch the replay he isnt going for the ball and has eyes only for parker, we all love a shirtfront its a great spectacle if things like this are allowed however we wont have players with long careers and we will need more interchange as the goal will be to take each other out.

i agree the hard physical contest is an integral part of the game but we must emphasis the head should be protected. Any head high contact is a free kick isn't so hand in hand with that any careless head high taking out is now not part of the game.

Well that's silly.  I didn't once suggest I'm for full on punch ups.  I'm just saying that back in those eras the players just took it, which is what they should do considering how tough our sport is.  I'm also not suggesting that people go in like bulls with their elbows flapping about either.  The point is, the bump McDonald dished out was absolutely nothing, and it would be a real shame if he got any weeks for it.

I was at the ground and it was a great bump! GWS needed to show some fight and they did! Footy has gone soft but I glad the thugs and the hits behind play are out! This wasn't even a free kick so hopefully should be ok!

Hope he plays I need him to rise in value!

fair enough I was exaggerating the point but i think that bump is good if parker had a hand on the ball.

The Worst part was he was on my bench!

dont think you can say it has gone soft, it has changed and changed for the better. i agree the hits behind play need to be out. i guess there needs to be better clarity on these hits, my understanding if i was playing a game today would be its ok its in the vicinity and he didnt hit him high from what the video shows, but the AFL has a duty of care and thats where it becomes grey.

edit: having said that based on current MRP rulings and the way the game is for consistency i think he will get a reprimand and if the MRP is feeling like it which i doubt due to being a giants player he will get offered a week.

essendon2

it was a great bump full stop, end of story
