I thought it was a bit of a dodgy call. There were a couple of worse ones though, poor hampton kept copping behind the action shower, was really bad, cant believe the umpires didnt notice it lol.

I felt for the first 3 quarters of the game the umpiring was awful at some points.

Also, as I said before reports were that they were checking Parker's teeth. Watching him at the game he quite clearly had the opputunity to pull out. But went on with it.

Intentional, raised elbow, late. It was a big bump, but he didn't need to raise his arm.

I put Parker as my dad's smokie, but he ended up changing to Palmer  ::)

From the replays I think the player he bumped kind tripped over backwards and made him bump him higher than he wanted. . I think it was unintentional high contact.

TheMailman

I disagree with the the tripping over part. He was trying to turn around

Mcdonald had eyes only for Parker. He had no intention of going for the ball, only to take Parker out.

I'm not even being biased, Mcdonald is on my mid bench and I don't want him to cope 2 weeks. But he should. It was plain intentional and made contact with his head.

Chopps

if he doesn't go for that then there is something wrong with the MRP,  as someone else said you can do that in bush footy but not AFL.

Ziplock

anyone got a link for a replay?

need to click highlights then go to the one labelled mcdonald shows intent

Grazz

His biggest problem is he ran past the ball to get Parker, they dont like that.

upthemaidens

i thought it was good bump,, but have a feeling maybe get a week

Chopps

it was a good bump if he didnt get him high or didnt have eyes only for parker

Grazz

I thought it was ok to, but we all know where the AFL are heading with this kind of contact. Then youve got the inconsistency of the tribunal, i think he'd be worried.

the inconsistency of the MRP is a problem, in all honesty i think he will be ok, reprimand at worst although I believe he should get at least a week for it.

Ziplock

I just watched it a couple of times over, firstly, it was a loose ball that parker and a gws player were going for, and mcdonald put the hit on a bare handful of metres out, the video is a bit inconclusive, but it didn't look high, certainly was below the shoulders anyway.

he cleaned him up, but not even a free kick was played, so odds are it was reasonably legit.

C'mon MM. there was not a raised elbow. lt was a good old fashioned shirtfront, which will probably should cost him some time on the sidelines. Old McDonald has 2 things going for him though-
   1. he's from GWS, and the league won't want to suspend him
   2. the umpire was right there and didn't pay a free or report him (as l said in an earlier post)

.....IMO l think they willl make it that he gets off with an early guilty plea (the league has a vested interest in GWS being as competitive as possible)

Grazz

True no free kick was payed so someone will have egg on thier face if he gets a game. I think a reprimand is the likely outcome but as i said the tribunal keep you guessing. :-\

TheMailman

It shouldn't matter if he's from GWS or the Amazon. There was quite obviously contact with Parker's head as that's why they subbed him off later.

The only things going fo him IMO:

1. It was near the ball sort of
2. Parker wasn't out via the concussion rule

The MRP is there for when the umpires either miss something or get it wrong, which is the case here.
