there wasn't head contact...

high shoulders at moment, parker might have gotten a bit of whiplash when he hit the ground, but that's it.

even if mcdonald was going for parker, is that illegal? it's basically just a really heavy sheppard...?

He never took his eyes of Parker. He didn't go for the ball, he was there to take out Parker.

What do people do when they bump? They brace themselves, Mcdonald wasn't simply going to run chest first into Parker.

There was head contact, Mcdonald isn't a whole lot taller than Parker

Do people remember the bump on Johnson by Sandilands? Sandi was able to keep his shoulder down and prevent contact with Johnson's head, therefore making it a legal bump. Mcdonald doesn't do that

MRP have a right to look at it and he should be at least 2 weeks IMO

Easy to say but my 1st 2 lines come into consideration and the ball was within a metre or 2, Parker actually ran into McDonalds line for the ball as well, Sure the MRP will look at it that wasn't my point,
My point was they have to judge these things  on real time footage instead of slow mo. replays

Got Parker in your team Mailman? And no McDonald? That's the only reason why anyone would want McDonald suspended for a fair bump in play. It's not netball.

TheMailman

I have Mcdonald and I don't have Parker.

I just don't believe it was a fair bump.

SydneyRox

I have both! :)

Jmac should get 2-3 reduced to 1-2.

Loved the bump, even though it was a Sydney player copping it. There was head contact invovled, plus at the start of the season there is always 1 or 2 "messages" sent to players that by half way through the season dont get reported.

tor01doc

SydneyRox rocks on.

Correct-a-mundo.

MRP love 'messages' and the head (jaw is a part of that) is sacrosanct.

Eliminate the bump is their aim for all the milfs out there.

cortez

it isnt in the afls best interest for macdonald to miss since gws already have so many  senior players out. will cop just over 100 points with good behaviour and early plea that will come down under 100 and he will be fine to play round 2.

Cmon mate this is footy, not netball. Bumps are a crucial part of the identity of the game.

That is a fair, good bump.

The Afl doesn't want players to suffer concussion injuries from players charging into each other at head height, which is fair enough IMO.

You can say, "This isn't lawn bowls" all you want, it won't change the MRP's opinion on this.

Impromptu

There was no free against McDonald so in his favour, while in play and if I'm not seeing things Parker fell down during the play and McDonald could not have avoid the contact.

I think the fact that the umpire was a few metres away didn't give a free could work in McDonald's favour.

Perthwildcat

MRP are pretty hot on high contact these days.  2 weeks I reckon.

Initial contact was to his chest/shoulder. The 2nd impact was to his jaw, once all the force had been taken out of the bump. If he gets suspended for that, then so should whoever kneed Townsend in the head. Incidental contact.

McVeigh is the only one in danger of being suspended in this match.

that's what I was thinking... he hit him below the shoulder, then kind of contacted again when they both bounced off eachother.

we'll see.

what we need is an opinion from someone who doesn't support gws or sydney, and either doesn't have parker or mcdonald in their team, or has both :P
