Zip The review of this by the MRP will be extremely interesting as if he is cited and gets a week or 2 will it set the standard for the season. Like Meow said we are playing football and not netball and from my viewing looked like nothing more than a good old hip and shoulder gone slightly amiss not by much. Parker also appeared to move into Macs line as well.  The other thing and has been highlighted is the umpire was very close to the action and not even a free kick was awarded.
To sum up if MacDonald is cited and suspended we will be in for a long season of scrutiny by the MRP,

demon_spud

Will be cited as the majority of the MRP won't have Jmac in their fantasy league.

To all those people saying "we're not playing netball here", you're idiots.
Yes you can say we're not playing netball, and we all want to see big hits and bumps but that's irrelevant. The AFL has a specific set of rules and the MRP interpret incidents based on these rules - not based on how fans don't want to see a game of netball.
"The game is getting soft". Irrelevant.
MRP has cracked down on bumps and head high hits over the past few seasons so I'd be particularly worried if I were McDonald. There was intent, it was reckless, head-high AND he left the ground (which is the worst thing he could have done).
It doesn't matter if the umpire didn't pay a free kick or report him, that's what match reviews are for (To spot incidents umps may have missed behind play etc or deemed insignificant). Players have been suspended before for incidents where free kicks weren't given, so I don't see this helping his case too much.

Catchya later McDonald. 2 weeks with an early plea and a good record.

BTW - I don't have McDonald or Parker and I don't follow either teams.

end of the day - joel selwood got weeks last year - very different scenario with the perforated ear drum, ect. BUT he had a clean record and with F all footage got 4 weeks i think? so you just don't know what will happen here.

Regardless of any suspension, I don't reckon JMac will play again til at least round 3 or 4.  He is there mainly as a coach and a steady hand, this season is all about developing players for GWS, not giving a send-off for the older fellas.

He was in the team to make sure they weren't embarrassed while we all watched them in round 1.

Disagree. Hes deffinetly there as a coach more so than a player but he will play every game hes available for atleast the first 1/3 of the year while the team get their feet.
I think he will get 2 weeks though unfortunately

From a supercoach perspective.. if he gets 2 weeks i will keep him on my bench, if he gets more than 2 should he be traded?

Agree with Qman,

Will play if not rubbed out but will get 2.

sidvicious

The fact he plays for GWS will get him off

Initial contact was to his chest/shoulder. The 2nd impact was to his jaw, once all the force had been taken out of the bump. If he gets suspended for that, then so should whoever kneed Townsend in the head. Incidental contact.

McVeigh is the only one in danger of being suspended in this match.

that's what I was thinking... he hit him below the shoulder, then kind of contacted again when they both bounced off eachother.

we'll see.

what we need is an opinion from someone who doesn't support gws or sydney, and either doesn't have parker or mcdonald in their team, or has both :P

Im your man, i have niether and i support the Crows.

2 weeks is okay, doesnt hurt to much, especially coz he got a nice 100 for me on the weekend... Had he of scored a 50 however and got 3 weeks i would be giving him the ass
