Thanks for the replies fellas

given that i had bugg as my back emergency i am thinking of downgrading hanley for someone who wont play so then bugg can gt the points from the first round and then use him as a permanant backman.

does anyone know any premium defenders that will be back in a week or two?

im looking at pendlebury as my premium mid but im unsure if i will do it as my stratergy is based around having the 8 rookie midfielders so i might just use fyfe or goddard as my captain

keep the replies comming though they are much appreciated

You could try Bock suspended till round 3 and was a super prem from last year.  Scored highly in the NAB Cup.

I dont think that strategy is going to work champ.
IMO if you want to be different I would have gone 2 - 0 - 6 strategy.
Ablett for perma capt & maybe take a punt with a unique prem i.e. Watson.

bkp130

Yeah im thinking about trying to get bock in for someone else. possibly hanley

Im not sure if it will work either but im taking a risk. Its all fun anyway im just interested to experiment.

thanks everyone so far for your replies.

ill let everyone know any changes i make

Thanks for the rate mate ...

Looking at your team:

B- Scotland, Deledio, Shaw, Birchall, Broughton, Yarran, Hanley (Ellis, Bugg)
M- Caddy, Coniglio, Hoskin-Elliot, Wingard, Stevens, Ledger (Shiel, Magner)
R- Munford, Luenberger (Giles, Reddan)
F- Franklin, Fyfe, Martin, Cloke, Sidebottom, Dangerfield, Devon Smith (Folau, Hall)

Love the point of difference ... just don't think this is the year for great rookies ... i think McDonald is the best value and Shiel will come good in a couple of weeks.  Coniglio is good player but I don't see him killing it based on NAB scores ... Wingard will get the vest ... Ledger worries me with JS ....

Love the cloke pick ... i have gone the same
Also like the Yarran and Handley picks but would only go one of these guys .... perhaps use the money to lock in one premium in the mids for captain each week.

Sidebottom and Danger ... I would only go one and get a rookie or porps ... using the dosh to get another premium.

Could be a 9.5/10 ..... or a 5/10 .... huge risk ... huge potential reward.
But as I said ... may not be the year to go with all rookie mids ... to be honest all rookie/mid priced defenders makes more sense to me.

Good luck mate.

Thanks for all the comments so far guys

im thinking about making a few changes but unsure as yet. Undecided on ledger, hanley, yarran and leunberger now i think everything else will stay the same.

im going with the risk i know but hopefully it pans out but we will see.

Grab ablett at the very minimum for captain.  I am sure going 7 vs 8 rookies in the mid is not going to be that much of a big diff

bkp130

Yeah i was thinking about going ablett but i think im going to go with fyfe as captain or goddard. Still deciding though. I wanted to have a perma captain in the midfield but i think i want to have the balls to just play 8 rookie mids and see where i end up. Its either going to work or its not so we will see what happens

keep the comments comming though

I think your vastly underestimating what someone like Ablett can do for captaincy points.  Unless you have a crystal ball, you really need to rotate with at least someone that will be in the top 3 total scores for the season.

Its just law of averages.  If you don't believe me, tally your captain scores if you had Ablett/Pendlebury (perma captain) and with your current team as you go through the season.

You can have your strategy and it may well work.

My concerns are no Goddard, no Cox, no McDonald (yeah yeah he'll be out 2 weeks now but he did score well which a lot predicted) and only 11 premiums to start with.

Like the risk but I wouldn't.

bkp130

Yeah i am considering a permanent capating but still unsure.

i am also thinking of having giles as the 2nd ruckman instead of leunberger and then having both goddard and scotland in the backline but im still unsure. what does everyone think?

charliesheen

do the experiment like I said keeping track of all your captain scores vs pendles/ablett and learn something from it for next year  ;)

May I suggest a retrospective analysis of permacaptain vs yours from data collected 2011.

You will change and will not be burnt.

If you listen to the evil CS and experiment going prospectively, you'll burn.

Get Ablett.

bkp130

Haha thanks guys. Im still tempted by the idea of a permacaptain but i think that fyfe, franklin, goddard would do the job pretty well.

still doing my research though

I can see this working reasonably well (if only going for league win) - as Mid rooks will probably/possibly rise the most $.

But I'd probably still get at least of the best back rookies (although I guess its too late for Mohr) - i.e. likely to still score better than your last mid rook. And one perma captain Mid - ie Ablett.

I'd also dump the Burger and play 3 rookie rucks.
