im thinking about getting a POD into my backline for my midpricer, just not sure who
I was tossing up between Golby/Conca/Dempsey
What do you think, or should i just go with a hargrave or lake??
cheers

Jukes

Go Hargrave. He's a proven scorer (avg 93 in 2009) and I don't see anything stopping him from nearing that again.
Lake is too old and out of it, the other aren't proven.

yeah in the end i probably will go hargrave but was just wondering who you guys thought would be a good POD this year, considering theres so many to choose from in defense

Football Factory

I have Hargrave .. I can only fit 1 cheapy in my backline ..Lake could be a great pick just dont want to risk it

Maybe Dempsey .. Golby

I'm seriously considering this as a backline:

Goddard, Deledio, Waters, Grimes, Hargrave, Golby + rooks

I might have to skimp elsewhere... but there's GREAT value to be had in the backs.

Hargrave - born 26.07.1981
Lake - born 27.02.1982

Jukes is right about one thing though - Hargrave's scoring potential isn't worth sacrificing for the sake of a POD.
If really want a bit of uniqueness, perhaps replace someone else?

there may be a bye issue if ya go with conca or dempsey, just casue you may not want to trade them on before rd.12
and if ya have for example, god/delidio/scotland then u will be forced to trade out conca to save yourself an extra zero
or with dempsey if u have shaw and broughton, then dempsey will need to be traded out to avoid an extra zero

it really depends if ya going for overall ofcourse and also on the rest of your backline set-up

yeah cheers for that, really want to take this risk with lake cause he has so much upside, but hargrave has put his hand up ahead of him over NAB. Then theres the untried guys like golby/conca who i think will do well this year also
gotta love the pre lockout decisions  :-\

Lake is the biggest mistake of season 2012

He's a KPP - renowned for not scoring well.

He's had ONE and ONLY one good season. A season where the dogs were a dominant force and spent 1/2 a game chipping the ball around in their back line. They won't be as good this year and they won't chip it around as much. Therefore Lake will not return to his former glory and anyone expecting him to is silly.

He's a KPP, there's a reason they don't normally score well, and he won't score great this year either.

yeah good call, got hargrave in there atm and am tossing up between broughton or duffield+65k

if he can average 70-75 points  that will be good enough for his price and also pretty good JS to go with it...
worse case if it doesnt work out then just trade him up or down..
best case he averages 90ish and is a keeper D5/6 at a bargain price...
