yeh thats what i'm thinking. Only second game back and straight into AFL. can't see him playing a whole game. where as JMac has been playing in the NAB so should be ready to go.

No for me! just cant fit him. Current mid rookies are shiel, Kennedy, magner all of which i reckon will perform better

I haven't got him, as much I would like to have him I just think he will spend more time coaching compared to playing.

He won't play many games and if they are getting spanked he will be subbed off for a rookie to have a run for their development.

he mightn't be a stellar rookie but he provides certainty in a year when not many rookies are providing any. He will play most matches at least at the start of the year unless he does a hammy and the NAB cup shows that for the time he is on the ground, he is one of their best scorers. There is much less risk in picking McDonald and knowing you are going to be able to fatten him up enough to advance yourself towards a trade rather than risking another GWS player who will get rotated weekly or rely on rookies at other clubs with serious JS issues

Its all about making money. J Mac should start and potential price increases in the first 5 weeks should give a good return. Will be having both on the bench week 1 and suck it and see.

Why do people think McDonald wont play many games because he is player coach?. That's ridiculous. There is no place he will be more valuable to the guys around him then on the paddock. They dont need him coaching them from the sideline, there are others to do that. He was signed to lead the way on the paddock, and that is exactly what he will do. Do you really think they would have played him in all the nab games if they wanted to wrap him in cotton wool?. He will play all the early games. Forget the player/coach tag it was nothing more then extra incentive to get him to play, and something to fall back on should his body breakdown.
