Going heavy on expensive rookies in the MIds

Hey All

Im thinking about running all three expensive "rookies" in the MidField

To do this i need to make Adcock into Malcheski in the back (got dids, heater and god at B1-3) and use Cox and rookie ruck structure

Upside is it gives me GAJ, NDS and Priddis as M1-3

Logic is that they "should" be the cream of the crop ala Swallow, and will also be able to convert more quickly into premium mids

Thoughts?

They'll be close to being the best performed cash cows, so yes it's worth it. For example: Pendles and Gazza aren't going to come down in price so you'll need a fair bit of cash to bring them in later. Boyd is tipped to go up to 750K and there is no way you'd get a player like him without some serious cash being made.

I've got no problem with Malceski, Cox, GAJ, Dal or Priddis as premiums, as I'm sure no one would.

He is very, very expensive but I'm almost on board with Coniglio (providing his knee that kept him out of last years draft combine is all A-OK) & I think Wingard could prove a really good point of difference - but he didn't dominate during the preseason which, at his price, puts me off.

My 2 biggest concerns would be starting a rookie ruck - even if it is Giles (Brogan could really hurt his scoring throughout the year) - and Josh Caddy - don't get me wrong, think he could be really good player, but just can't justify his starting price of $218k. I have the same issue with Porps in the fwd line at the moment - don't think either will be a keeper therefore see better value in cheaper rookies (yes, I know Coniglio & Wingard aren't much cheaper, but they are cheaper - both under the magic $200k mark for me).

For what it's worth, over the season I think Shiel will out-perform & out-score Caddy - I think in this case spending more may not actually get you a better player/outcome.

i did have caddy in but his preseason scores havnt impressed me too much for his price, since im going a 3-3 mid structure ive had to pick coniglio and maybe consider wingard for some security.

atm ive got gaj, pendles, selwood, coniglio, shiel, miles, magner, clay smith.

im not sold on miles' job security when midfield at full strength and clay smith wearing the green vest?

No link for this but I'm sure Primus has said Wingard needs to develop more at the top level. Not sure he'll get enough games and he'll get the vest when he does. Wingard was my first rookie picked after Giles and Ellis but now have to reconsider.
Will Caddy automatically go straight in the mids at GC? Great player wish Bombers had got him. Coniglio is looking more and more appealing despite his price. Will be still rotated I feel. Jurys still out on him.

yeah i heard the same about wingard a while ago, im pretty set on shiel, magner and coniglio but im iffy on ledger, clay smith, miles, clifton, wingard sam gibson hasnt been elevated yet so im not so sure about my 3-3 mid set up so far  :(

other alternative is to throw d.smith in the guts for a link and i have dickson, pfeiffer, kennedy and ? in the forwards maybe cameron?

That's why I've got back to a 4-2 mid set up. Currently have mcdonald, shiel, ledger and magner as the rookies with d.smith and kennedy up forward. I'm not a fan of spending extra money on unproven players who are only there to make money.

I've got pretty much the same setup with GAJ, JELWOOD, WATSON, CADDY, CONIGLIO, WINGARD, JMAC & MAGNER.
After doing a little more research it seems CADDY could be more suited to DreamTeam with his scoring, his SC scores were 20pts or so under his DreamTeam. LUKE PARKER costs a little more but may well be worth the extra coin. I really like the 3 premium 5 rookie setup but not sold on CADDY.

Anyone have any thoughts on that?
