QuoteFirstly just quickly as I have just realized I cant really be bothered typing. The concept of an AFL club on the Gold Coast is a very good. With the emergence of Soccer and it's penetration so quickly to all states of Australia the AFL is doing the right thing by expanding the brand of the best game in the world AFL football. In terms of Product no one can compete with AFL the emotion, the drama the characters the loyalty.

The second thing to note is a provisional license has been granted. This is a wise move by the AFL as if this thing turns out a trainwreck, which it most likely wont. The AFL can do the usual Houdini trick and say don't blame us. The consequence of this is the responsibility to encapsulate the required crowd participation and sponsors rests squarely on the shoulders of the business team at the Gold Coast. Travis Auld, Greg Price etc.

Now lets move on the economic impact. The fact that the report is downloadable in PDF form is a little strange. Considering company's on the stock exchange a legally required to have their reports available for shareholders to vist. Stakeholders of the GC or people of interest dont have access to this report. The report is conducted by a well respect academic and is without seeing the report it is hard to judge but the estimated 34 million dollars expected to be earned through tourism I feel is a number arrived at after a series of generous projections.

The second noteworthy point is in 2016 45% of people of all people attending GC games will be locally. One cant help but feel if this numbers happens to be off the GC crowd numbers will be dwindling. It also brings into question the branding of the team GC.

Now the team was branded GC yet 45% of people attending will not be locals this brings into question the idea mentioned here "Yes and because of that we believe we had a unique opportunity to position ourselves around the City and its values"

One must wonder about the viability of the venture when relying on some 45% of attendees to be tourists. Although the GC is an attractive place to visit 45% is still a high number. Interesting numbers for comparison would be how many non local people visit the Gabba.

The good news. The song is reasonably catching, Without seeing Financial details sponsorship already looks somewhat healthy, The people dont seem as heaviliy opposed to AFL as they once were, Karmichael hunt for so many reasons but mostly bringing attention the the game of AFL and setting a precedent. A precedent in a sense if Karmichael Hunt swaps codes then hopefully many rugby fans will also somewhat swap codes or support both. Guy Mckena is seems a professional person of well regard and is expected to excel at developing the list

the bad news: There is no superstar as of yet who is established in the game of AFL. With club loyalty so important in AFL it represents a problem, The person in bathers is cheesy stereotyping and would identify with few fans, no affectionate nickname to foster love and ingrain the franchise in the minds of potential fans. All design aspects somewhat from the GC logo to the Jerseys are facing some significant thumbs down. It must be questioned whether these sort of logos and dominant colours will strike a chord with the GC target market.

Rivalry's should be developed against the Brisbane lions and also GWS to draw fans into the animation of AFL football and to help crowds.

I will be back with more and to do some proof reading later!

ps: how do I get a job?
