donf pick any cats who go through the mids, i cant stress this enough!! not only will their sc scores be hurt i cant see them making finals with west and the big O  even though one is a premiership ruckman...

What? What?

That makes close to no sense.

Brad Ottens is the only ruckman to have retired. In the last three years Ottens has played a third of the games he could have. A third!

Ottens wasn't carrying their club by any means. The more I read the comment the dumber it looks.

You think the Hawks won't make the finals either now seeing as Bailey is injured?

Look at Collingwood. Jolly is pretty average these days with injuries and so forth. Are they going to make the finals?

I'm sorry but this statement is actually really weird

I think its an attempt at humour using sarcasm but I wouldnt have thought that it was that big of a statement to say the geelong midfielders will suffer with a lack of ruck depth. Not saying that guys like selwood wont still rack it up but the fewer clearances they will now get could be the difference for some in picking a selwood as apposed to swallow, rockliff, or priddis

cortez

so are saying that selwood only gets clearances from ottens? this is a stupid thread. the bloke is a gun abd will kill it no matter who is in ruck. i guess the team who plays against sandi never gets any clearences. oh wait great players can read a tap thats why they are great!!!

TheMailman

WHY DOES EVERYBODY TRY TO USE SACRASM  >:(

At least use the emoticons so I have some idea  :P

cortez

sorry mailman next time ill use a    :P

TheMailman

Dw it'll just help you avoid a rant from me ;)

Also you bring up a great point, good midfielders like Selwood can shark ball off anyone

No im not saying he can "only get clearances from ottens".. im saying that the geelong midfielders will find it that bit harder to get there hands on the ball from ruck tap outs resulting in lower clearance numbers. read the post properly before making a comment peanut

cortez

ill give you some advice, stop thinking so much. it is a simple game. good players score good and great players score great. it wont affect selwoods scores.

Correct. But picking the correct prems is just as important as picking the correct rookies.
Selwood is my M3 for the record

cortez

He is my m3 as well. and i would keep him if i was you. great midfielders not only win clearances from there own ruckman but are good enough to read the opositions ruckmans taps. he'll me fine mate :-)

cortez makes a good point.  selwood is a gun and should score well regardless.  i guess the point quinney88 was making is that if selwood drops say 5 points a round because of this, and another mid steps up 5 points, then taht could be the difference between winning and losing.

selwood was my second mid picked after ablett.  selwood and swallow averged the same last year, i think 111 for both and both are expected to increase.  swallow may be able to bring his average up to 115, or even 120, with a softer draw this year.  selwood should increase as well if you take into account his 24 in R1 bought his last years average down maybe 5 points, so I think what quinney may have been trying to say is that selwood could drop possibly 5 or 10 points through poor ruckman.  I realise ottens was geelongs version of clarke keating, a finals specialist who missed many games throughout the year, but he is going to be missed

Its a game of inches.  I have ablett, swallow and selwood, and 5 mid rookies, with my first upgrade targets being pendles and murphy, but that can always change.

Can't believe what I'm reading. ::)

We are talking about last years premier!!

Geelong is a class act and their midfield have always scored well in SC, leave them out at your peril...

supercoach addict

Geelong could have Relton Roberts in the ruck, the mids are still gonna score well.

cortez

if they had bilbo baggins in the ruck they  would still score well!!!
