There has been a lot of talk about "Do I start the great Dane" or "Do I leave him and upgrade to him later?"

I for one am a firm believer in starting with the best and upgrading to the rest throughot the year, although this year I don't feel it is as clear cut...

The purpose of this thread is to place all the Positive and Negative factors of having Dane in your Dream Team.

I will start us off.

POSITIVE

- He is the best DTer in the land
- He plays for the second best (perhaps best) team in the league
- A lock for captain EVERY week
- His early draw isn't harsh with Melbourne, GC, Port, Crows, Bulldogs and Lions all in his first 11 outings
- His record vs the Hawks (who he plays in round 1) is fantastic with 122 and 130 last year

NEGATIVE

- He costs 600k
- He is now coached by a rookie (Buckley) not a master (Malthouse)
- He is likely to miss around due to his trip to Arizona...
- Sure to come down in price UNLESS he average 123 over his first 4 games (I read this somewhere...)
- He shares his bye with fantasy land greats Stanton (cheers Jukes!), Selwood and Pendlebury

I will add to the above reasons as you wonderful people add positives and negatives of starting with Swanny in 2012. Then in a few days time we will have all the factors (positive and negative) of starting Swanny therefore making our decision easier
I hope this works and helps

;D

Admittedly he should drop in price before his bye but can you realistically pick 6 possible players (on field positions)

to start with that will score more than he will over this period?

a captain lock in everyone's book

Jukes

On the negatives;
-He's priced not that extremely.
-Swanny doesn't listen to coaches.
-It's Swanny he can take it.
-Falling during bye round, meaning he probs won't miss a week. Even if he does miss a game, remember his form last season after Arizona.
-I wouldn't think a trade is worth saving 40k on Swanny.

Good input Jukesy. Having looked at Swanny's draw is actually isn't too bad early. I think the game against the Hawks is the only one where the Pies may struggle...

Directly after his bye though he has a very tough run so I am starting to lean toward starting the great man.

Also not listening to coaches may be a positive? He hasn't exactly done anything badly by not listening to coaches...

Justin Bieber

He has only won a lazy brownlow, not listening to the coaches..

Not sure they will be this year. Think they might struggle for a top 4 spot.

Justin Bieber

Hopefully leaving him out this year is a better choice then leaving him out last year  :(
