Is anyone actually considering him? has pumped out some massive scores recently and with bailey going down, plus the fact that there is no way hawthorn will risk playing roughead in the ruck, he looks to be the only option. also is a good mark and can kick a few, similar to petrie. if McCauley isn't named in the round 1 side, I'm seriously considering hale as a mid pricer to upgrade later on, or potentially keep depending on how he goes when bailey is back.

would be a good unique but not for me

I put Hale in my side  2 days ago. He is my main ruck.

Has had a really good pre season. Still managed 3 goals & 20 hit outs with Mc Cauley on the weekend.

Looks to be a really important part of Hawthorns game plan...especially with Bailey now going down .

I know its a sin to go by pre season form, but in this instance there is no one to take his role compared to a running type player that may have lots of competition in their side.

If he is resting forward and Franks is up the ground, along with Smith, Mitchell, Hodge, Lewis and everyone else banging it on his head...you can imagine Hale wont be doing much resting down there.

Ouch

Could be a good backup plan for a single premium / 3 rookie ruck setup?
Stick hale in the forward line. That way if the rucks don't turn out, he can be pushed into the ruck with a new cheap forward traded in (isn't that the way the new DPP trade rule works?)

Max Bailey won't be out all season.
Can Hale keep his scores up when Bailey's back?

Torress

a week before the season starts - a spud steps up. this guy aint bad, but does anyone remember watching him at north? a spud is a spud, hawks don't have a real easy start either.

personally i can't see this guy scoring enough.

straight through to the keeper

im not really looking to keep him tbh. at the moment i have cox and jacobs, but with hales form I'm looking at bringing him in. no doubt cox will be the #1 ruck again this year and its very hard to pick who will be the 2nd best out of mummy, jacobs, burger etc. so I'm looking into playing hale and hoping he pumps out some big scores and rises in price, so that mid season i can bring in the 2nd best ruck.

Definately looks to be upside to this guy and fits into the hawks structure really well. Proved last year he wasnt the spud that played for roos. I think his one of the leagues most improved players. Pending on your team set up would determine wether or not you pick him.

If you r playing that ruck combo slashers has hit the nail on the head here. Great contingency plan. If he is to be one of those preseason pretenders i cant see him ave less than 70 which would mean hell retain his value and makes him a perfect stepping stone to a premo.

The only reason you wouldnt be considering this guy if you were playing a 1 ruck 3 premo set up is that there is half a dozen other mid range guys ripping it up and look to break out.

Ouch

I did have West with the 3 cheapos in the ruck.
For not much more money I feel far more confident in Hales scoring ability.

Of course he isnt intended to be R1 all year...Ill wait for Cox or Mummy to drop a bit or look at Luey when his draw gets easier later on...

Backup plan for those starting with Mummy in case he gets suspended?  8)
Or any rucks get injured? I personally don't mind having him in the forward line for a little while.

azza707

can you really afford to put him in the forward line though with their being so many value picks up front this year? its a tough call...

Football Factory

Was looking at Hale before .. then started messing with my team .. when i got back there was a Hale thread   8)  .. bloody tempted to get rid of Por pie for Hale but i have to downgrade Parker to rook .. Orren to Rowe  .. then i have a link for injury in the rucks and a better scoring forward  ..My rucks are Mummy and Giles ..   :-\

My forward line is stacked with value picks ;)
Only starting one rookie in the forwards.
