There are some very tempting mid-price options in the backline this year
.........are they a potential bonanza or merely fool's gold ??

To me, a few that are standouts are- Courtenay Dempsey,Brian Lake, Ryan Hargrave and Mitch Golby. There also seems to be alot of love for Christian Howard out there in DT land too.

The thing l'm tossing around is how many of these guys do l play, and which ones. Hmmmm, and would it be totally ridiculous to consider playing 4 of them as my 4th, 5th, 6th & 7th backs.

Thoughts guys??

Get on Howard! And at his price you could almost consider him a cash cow but will average 80+.

Got two mid-price defenders this year- Duffield and Hargrave as D4 and D5. Both offer great value and should average high 80s before I ship them out for a premium.

they only have to average 70 odd to make you $100,000, then its a simple upgrade

considering the premium backs dont push much above 90, the risk in midpricers is less in the backline. And considering the price of most being discussed (sub $300k) the chance of them making you some decent money if they don't work out is still fairly good.

so 1. you don't lose a LOT of points compared to a premium

and 2. you should make ALMOST as much money off them as you would off a rook.

WIN WIN even if you LOSE LOSE :)

I have Conca and Hargrave in DT, Lake and Golby in SC. In both sides they are DEF's 5,6. Don't want to miss out on at least the 3 best rooks in DEF. After all rooks will make the most cash and it is needed.

Just saying if a rookie can score 80, a midpricer should be scoring at least 80, but his argument was saying he only wants them to score 70. But it seems they are overpriced only scoring 70 if a rookie can easily do that.

l was making the point that they only needed to score 70 odd to make a profit of $100,000..... however l do think they'll score more, but will still serve their purpose even if they dont

Justin Bieber

Well with Hargrave, I'm hoping he can average around the 80 mark or I'm disappointed...  :-\
