He's an interesting one.  He could be set for a massive season, and I'm almost tempted to get him.  With Swan and Pendles in my team already I'd have to drop one of those.  Pendles has impressed so far, so that leaves Swan.  Trading out Swan for Watson just seems insane though...

I started Watson instead of Swan last year and was VERY happy!!!   ;D













until Watson injuried himself and flowered all over my chances for the year...  >:(

I normally don't either, but you can't discard his numbers.  If he stays fit he will be pushing for a place in the top 6 mids I reckon, and if he doesn't he will go mighty close.

Watson started the year off last year with 135, 96, 134, 111, 101, 115 and 127 for an average of 117. Obviously he got injured after that and never really regained his amazing form. IMO, Essendon is definitely on the up and i think Watson will continue the form he showed early last year and average between 107-112. He's also been tearing up so far this preseason. I'm strongly considering downgrading Selwood to Watson and then upgrading a rookie to Waters. That's looking pretty damn tempting right now.

ive been thinking the same thing but with a different way of going about it. droping cloke 4 rookie, upgrade clifton 4 watson to be 5th mid....
surely watson will ave 105 and cloke around 95 mite b worth the extra 20k

if you can find a forward rookie that will outscore the possible rookie replacements for Clifton then that'd be a great idea

Well, as I said, I'd have to drop either Pendles or Swan to fit him in and, at this stage, Swan would be the one to make way.  I know it's Swan, and he never tries in NAB Cup etc, but the more I tell myself not to worry about him the more I actually do worry.  I just think Watson will be out to prove he's one of the best, whilst Swan already has proved it.  Watson may even think he's a cheeky chance at the Brownlow this year, so that could make for some very juicy scores.  The extra money I would save from going Watson over Swan could really help my team over all as well.  I'll have to give this a massive think though.  If it was anyone else other than Swan I'd have Watson in already.

Although i am most definately biased, the only bombers player i would push others to get in SC would be Watson or Dempsey, like everyone has suggested Watson ripped it up at the start of last season. Should probably get some more support from the midfield, although Watson is the only A grader at Essendon, there are probably many 'B' graders or foot soldiers to help out. Ready for a ripper year if he can stay on the field. Like you said, Brownlow Smokey (if he can keep his form up)

Also, i would not like having two midfield premo's from the same club unless they're both amazing (pendles and swan definately could fit this standard however!) but still, keep a variety i guess.

Plus, Swan > Watson frees up useful funds

Watson locked for me, if it wasnt for that hamstring injury he'd be talked about with the likes of Rockliff, Redden, Thompson and maybe Boyd. Maybe not in the Pendles, Swan and GAJ circle but definitely one to consider at his price!
