Golby An Alternative Option To Hargrave?

This guy has been flying under the radar all pre-season.

Of the mid priced back options he is only been bettered by Hargrave.

Golby is slaying at 88 DT's per 100 minutes with a TG% of 81.

He is the third in scoring at Brisbane behind Redden & Rockliff. I'm going to assume he is now 2nd after Rocky's zero today.

Golby's stats are very promising indeed.

Played in the NEAFL last year and was dominant. 24 disposals and 7 marks from 17 games and was too good for that level. A great kick and his run and carry is excellent.

Slayed 30 disposals against GWS and kicked the winning goal drifting FWD....

An 'expert' peoples views......:

A rebounding defender/outside midfielder that is maturely built, runs hard, carries the ball, takes the game on, reads the play well and accumulates plenty of possessions, gets good penetration with his left foot kicking with decent control and provides sound defensive pressure.

Probably needs to work most on developing a right foot (seems very one-sided) and improving his composure under pressure.
Averaged 23D, 8M and 1G from 5 games @ TAC Cup level in 2009. Sustained an ACL injury in the lead-up to the 2009 U18 championships - IIRC in one of the VC trial games. Was a Vic SS invite. Rated as a top 25 prospect in the pre-season 2009.

Is he a better option? We are going with Hargrave on pre-season form. Why not Mitch?

Yeah although the NEAFL is a really bad competition, compared to the VFL. Yeah Golby does look good though

Can you put a maybe option ... he has really good nab form had my eye on him for a while... Hargrave will be in the doggies best 22 every day of the week and has already had seasons of 75+ and 90+

I left one the option out because I thought at this stage of the year you should be saying 'no' or 'yes.'

No more chances to see him in action until round 1. In the off-season Golby has packed on the muscle and probably has beefed up the most of all Lions' players.

Golby after today's game is currently ranked 8th in the pre-season scores and a nice average of 76.  From 4 games.

Hargrave after today's game is currently ranked  around 15th and an average 74.5. From 4 games.

As of now Golby is the best defensive scoring player behind Broughton. Greg has played 5 games and averaged 70......
