Backs: Very solid like the carrazzo pick, nothing to pick wrong here.

Mid: Once again can't fault it another good unique in daisy

Ruckmen: Best possible 1/3 combo possible nuff said

Fowards: Nothing i can say against it again! i actually like the chappy pick just dont rekon he can hold that price tag.

overall 9.5/10

give mine a rate?
DEF: Goddard, Deledio, Birchall, Broughton, Conca, Hargrave, Ellis (Bugg, Shaw)
MID: Pendlebury, Boyd, Ablett, Selwood, Shiel, Magner (C.Smith, McDonald)
RUC: Franklin, Fyfe, Martin, Sidebottom, Dangerfield, Porplyzia, D.Smith (Kennedy, Hall)
$9,300
i know conca has fallen off the side off the earth but i still rekon he will match hargrave up around the 80 mark.
porps im just hoping for a solid 70 each week dont have that much trust in the rookies this year.
thanks man

thank you verry much for the rate :)

okay well with conca, if thats your plan tyhan you have missed the point of dt.
NEVER pick midpricers in the hope that they average 70, onbly pick a midpricer if you are confident they will turn into a premium.
nice mids.
didnt add the rucks :P
foward line no complaints othr than porpy, hes not my fav pick

nice team 8/10

TheHanger

Good, yeah MacDonald will probs only get minimal game time really
I really don't like the 1 prem 3 rook ruck system, Cox is really expensive what about mumford or sandi with macintosh or someone more reliable than Giles as 2nd ruck
Otherwise its pretty solid, standard team

Im sorry if theres heaps of writining but ive done it really detailed!
After much fiddling and undecidedness i think im almost done for lockout! but anyways!

Backs: Goddard, Carrazzo, Deledio, Birchall, Hargrave, Marty Clarke, Darley ( B.Ellis, Bugg)
i think my backs are extra strong, with having hargrave as 5 and marty as 6th. Marty was ovviosuly going to take a few NAB cub games to hit abit of form due to not playing football for so long. Birchall and carrots for me is a unique pick because they are ball magnets and generally rack up heaps of points. Darley, Ellis and Bugg are also 3 gun rookies!

Midfielders: Ablett, Rockliff, Selwood, Diasy Thomas, D Smith, Mcdonald (Miles, Stevens)
Alright well with many changes with having Lenny the whole time, but after yesterday i think it was time for a huged upgrade to Selwood, will just make my team stronger and stronger. Have decided to not start with Swanny this year because i believe he will go down in price and Ablett will soar again this year! Mcdonald (James) is unique for me but very risky so im not sure what i am going to do about him, maybe ill trade him before lockout. Any possible option??

Ruckmen: Cox, Giles ( Jenkins, Redden)
Obviously Cox is a gun and so will giles. I figure giles will average approx 70-75 so that is much better than having rookies from other positions on your field who will average 60-70. Redden and Jenkins should get considerable amount of games this year!

Fowards: Chapman, Franklin, Fyfe, Martin, Sidebottom, Tomilson, Bruce ( Kerridge, Couch)
Chappy risky i know, but thiss year will be no different to last year with 100+ average for sure. Obviously my other premiums are gun and will def backup performances or surely just get better. Tomilson isnt too bad and either is Bruce. Kerridge dont knwo much about but the hype is huge on him. Couch surely to get games for dees.

SO RATE FOR A RATE :) :) :) I AM THE SIDE TO BEAT, finished welll into top 1% last year.

Backs look solid, I'm cautious on Hargrave due to his age, and he's burnt me before... I tend to look at mid pricers who are younger as I think there is a better chance of them 'breaking out'... maybe Howard/Armstrong/Dempsey?

Mids are good, Daisy is a good unique, but not having Pendles/Boyd/Swan could hurt if they bust out a big one and your opponent has the C on them...

Rucks are fine, happy too see so many people taking the 1prem, 3 rook strategy, make me feel better about my team haha...

Forward rooks look a tad streaky... thoughts on Kennedy/Cameron/Pfeiffer? Should all get games...

In retrospect those comments seem pretty critical, it is a great team... I guess positive criticism is what you're looking for :)

ahh i see. yeah i would use the cash to drop jmac and bring in coniglio. still think thomas is a bit of a nothing pick and your better off going with a top end premium. think the rest of your team is pretty solid and good choice of rookies.

I like the tomlinson pick. I am currently tossing up between him and Jamie cripps, would love to hear your thoughts.

here is my team
http://www.fanfooty.com.au/forum/index.php/topic,52572.0.html

have currently made changes, and that is Maric > Hmac and Tomlinson > Cripps. also tossing up on who to pick between taylor hunt and christian howard :\

BIGCOLSYLVIA

@Notorious P.I.G. thanks for the rate.

traded daisy- pendles.
yes thanks i am looking for positive critism.
id have to say i bought in pfieffer for couch due to i am a melbourne supporter and couch will not get games, especially wwhen sylvia is back from his injury.

hargrave will be good.

i traded thomas for pendles.

YOUR TEAM:
not a fan of malceski, id def rather hargrave for him. taylor hunt a nothing pick. upgrade malceski and downgrade hunt.
mids interesting, not should on mcarthy or parker.
unique and good rucks, risk that will pay fof there.
really like the foward line, 10/10 for me there.

you have a good team, just make some trades.

in regards to what you said. keep maric and tomlinson, due to stkilda players dont get consistant games.
dont get either taylor hunt or cristian howard, get a rookie for them.

azza707

thanks haha will take your words into consideration :)

just letting you know, taylor hunt will take lings role this year and the kid is a tackling machine. should average close to 80 this year and I'm hoping to straight swap him for a fallen premium. McCartney has big wraps on Howard as well so i wouldn't exactly write him off just yet...

yes but what you dont understand is that taylor hunt is 270k, 80 isnt good enough. waste of money and a trade. if you do thaat taylor hunt for a fallen premium you are missing the point of dreamteam. dont do what i did with Jack Riewoldt last year, it doesnt work. your teams premiums should  be the best of the best. not fallen premiums.
I know mcarthy has big wraps, but he wont average over 90. so waste of money because your mids should all average 110-130
howard is a maybe, but you will never see him in my team. Hargrave and lake back this year anmd ful fit so howard will be sub candidate and will not be good enoug hto take points of hargrave and lake

haha yeah i understand where your coming from and everyone to their own opinion. but dream team is not all black and white mate. there is no set of rules that guarantees you success, each year is very different to the next. if so, then it wouldn't be any fun haha! of course guns and rooks has been proven to build decent teams, but its those sneaky picks, and doing something different from the normal that gets you up those extra rankings.

and to be honest, this year I, along with others, think decent rookies with job security are hard to come by. so i have picked mccarthy, parker and T.Hunt for example, where they will average 85-90ish (75ish for hunt) and raise to around 450k (350k). where as someone like shiel may only average around 70 ish, and other rookies not as good may cop the vest. So you either spend a bit more for those extra 20 odd points a game and added job security, or risk a rookie like jmac or C.Smith that could go anywhere. also i will only need to downgrade 1 rookie, and will be able to upgrade parker and mcarthy from that one cash cow, where has players like jmac, shiel etc will each need a downgrade.

I'm just highlighting a few different strategies here and its each to their own like i said :. i don't feel comfortable playing that many rookies this year, hence i have spent a  bit more money in buying mid pricers like taylor hunt and parker, where i know they will score well (hopefully :P ), make me money and won't cop a vest, resulting in my losing out on points and cash.

also when i mean a fallen premium, i don't mean a showerty premium as in like one that averages 100 instead of 115. i mean like, take for example barrel and muddy that were injured and scored 2 points each in their respective games. this make their price plummet, and if mccarthy and parker can get to that 450k mark i can then straight swap them for that fallen premium :)

Just some food for thought there :D

@azza
how'd you finish with your team???
post it?

yeah well i guess. how bad was parker and shiel?
had shiel on the field over kennedy fml.

my team has done pretty well though, mummy abit quite, bugg gunned it,mcdonald was amazing (everybody told me to trade him) but could be facing weeks. tomlinson was good but didnt score well, devon smith was also quiet.
giles did better than expected. so im happy.

yeah parker was annoying. as i stated above, spend the extra cash on a mid pricer midfielder over a rookie so he doesn't get subbed... and look what happens haha :( but the fact he got 55 points from 49% TOG is encouraging. i had shiel on the bench luckily, unlucky about kennedy over shiel.

yehh I'm not happy, but not pissed off from that game. had malceski at 83 and parker subbed, but bugg as a cash cow looks good and devon smith i think will score more than what he did in other games.

umm in regards to my team I'm tossing up between a few things atm.

have cox locked in, with giles locked in on my bench after the game. now Cox has a round 11 bye and i reaaaaaaally want sam jacobs, but he also has a round 11 bye. Was looking at Mcintosh as a mid pricer but he has round 11 bye as well. The only real options left are kreuzer or Ivan Maric. Thoughts on what i could do? these are my options really

1) Pick krezuer. priced at an average of 65 and looks very promising this pre season. also noted a lot of commentators talking him for a big year.

2) Maric??? :\ 95% chance will be a flop :P haha

2) pick Big Orren and just play one of redden/Oren (if named) on the field for round 1. then play Cox and Giles as my rucks and upgrade Giles to the 2nd best performing ruck after round 11.( will most likely be Mumford).

4) go with jacobs and hope to god there is a non round 11 rookie ruck named in round 11 that i can downgrade Giles to.

Other dilemma is whether to pick one of Clarke/Morris and save cash, or pick a mid pricer in T.Hunt or Christian Howard.

At the moment my team stands at:

I'm Cricketing
Remaining Cap: $23,700

DEF: H Shaw, G Birchall, G Broughton, N Malceski, C Howard, R Hargrave, C Guthrie,
B Ellis, T Bugg

MID: G Ablett, J Selwood, J Watson, J McCarthy, L Parker, S Coniglio,
D Shiel, J Magner

RUCK: D Cox, M Kreuzer,
J Giles, J Redden

FWD: P Chapman, N Fyfe, M Pavlich, S Sidebottom, P Dangerfield, J Cripps, D Smith,
A Hall, T Dickson

I guess i would also like to squeeze franklin in for one of pay/fyfe, however I'm one who likes to start the year with around 20k+ in the back for safety reasons

azza707

okay so, even though i HAAAATE the 1/3 ruck structure and have sworn not to pick in all season.... i have brought in the Big O and made a few changes to my team, and it just looks so much better

I'm Cricketing
Remaining Cap: $33,900

DEF: H Shaw, B Deledio, G Birchall, G Broughton, N Malceski, R Hargrave, C Guthrie
B Ellis, T Bugg

MID: G Ablett, J Selwood, J Watson, J McCarthy, L Parker, S Coniglio
D Shiel, J Magner

RUCK: D Cox, J Redden
J Giles, O Stephenson

FWD: P Chapman, L Franklin, M Pavlich, S Sidebottom, P Dangerfield, J Cripps
D Smith, A Hall, T Dickson

guess ill just bring in the next best ruck halfway. and giles' score of 77 even though he was off practically almost all of a quarter, up against mumford ( who was average however) i think he will do as ruck no. 2 for now. worried when brogan comes back however :\

when is brogan due back btw? anyone know??
