Is it bad to have 6 premium fwds from rnd 1?

It would be a very strong fwd line but it means i have only 1 spot for upgrading later on in the year. This could be problematic because later in the year there could be 4-5 gun fwds that should be upgraded to but i wouldn't have room for? Thoughts?

You got it in one. Basically - and this applies for all four lines - the more premiums you start with the fewer you can bring into your team during the season. So, by starting with 6 in your forward line you are banking on those guys replicating their form from last season (which is what their starting price reflects) AND few other premiums outscoring them.

If you're confident you've got the right guys then why not but personally I would start with a maximum of five, that way you have suffiicient flexibility to pick up any unexpected jets.

I was really considering having 6. I had it for a few weeks.

Start with as many guns as you can. There is no point worrying weather you have got the best or not,  while your farting around waiting for someone to raise there hand you've got a rookie playing on the field. Any extra points you may get waiting for the right guy, you've already given them up by that point anyway.
There is nothing wrong with having a premo on the pine, chances are you wont have all your guns during the finals anyway.

With 6 forward premiums you'd be sacrificing your other lines. Surely it'd be safer to have another premium elsewhere.

Premo on the pine = expensive donut.

I dont mean a Premium on the pine from round1 i meant eventually, meaning you can still get players in even if you started with 6 premiums. Having 8 forward premiums at some stage this year is actually what im aiming for. During last years finals i had 3 rookies starting in my forward line due to injury and rest.

Very good question Lollipop, and the answer is no. I did it last year, i didn't get the premiums right (Had Green and Didak and Higgins) but it meant i avoided the Cam Richardsons. And with the amount of fallling forward rookies, 5-6 premiums is a good idea. Check out my over-risky DreamTeam in the relevant board.

As you said the problem is there is little room to upgrade. If you are going for cheaper premiums/keepers like sidebottom, gray, Nroo, danger, christenson than there could be a problem if your missng out on guys like chappy, stevie j, goodes, beams etc... if your spending the cash on mainly gun forwards than there shouldnt be a problem with this.

If your happy with your other lines than go ahead, i see value in the back so im planning on 4 330k or less players and im starting hmac in the rucks so i have cash to throw around. So i have a reasonably strong forward line too.

I for one think that this idea isn't all that bad, as long as you pick the correct players. the back premiums look very shaky this year to be honest and so i think you can sacrifice your back line to have extra forwards, of which most of the premiums such as chappy, buddy, stevie j, fyfe, pay, martin all look like improving or at least maintaing their average.

I do have some cheap premiums/keepers, the rest are guns. Currently it's Franklin, Fyfe, Pav, Martin, Sidey and Gray. I did have a 5 premium fwd line (didn't have Fyfe) but Fyfe is just looking so good and i don't really want to drop anyone in the fwd line. It did mean i had to drop a back premium but IMO Fyfe will average more than most of them anyway.

yorgis

if you have a sidey, gray, christo, nroo, etc its a lot easier to upgrade if they don't fire up to premo status, because

all you have to do is cash in 1 of your almost ripe rooks. otherwise you have to wait until you have 3 or so rooks ready

to afford to get a premo. more trades used

Windigo

I'm rolling with 5, depends if you count Gray a a premium or not.

Get a mid-pricer or rookie for 6 & 7.

I actually chucked a 6th one down there. If you could 6 players over 400k prems?
