how about just the head, without the body? that's what i tried anyway and it was difficult to make out.

At 10x10, it's too hard to make out what it is...

what about a voting system at the end of the game, allocating a symbol (like a big F for fanfooty), to a player that was especially fantasy relevant/ dominant. So like, for instance, if gazza churns out a 130, but he's playing adelaide and porps pulls out a 120, you'd vote for porps over gazza :P
