Hi all
New herald sun website up and running. SC HQ behind pay wall will have live scores and links in with you SC team.
First 2 months free then pay. Had to know this was coming. Not sue if SC gold will get it free?
bit much to ask for us to pay for SC gold, Superfooty HQ and the SC app.

Have no idea how they will do live SC scores. Won't be very accurate. Just another way to squeeze some more cash out of us

Hope Monty won't start charging too.

Yeah so does this mean the will be livescores up on here Monty?
I ain't happy with how money hungry the herald sun r. Very tight.

Sida

I doubt m0nty will legally be able to

I think the herald sun have just lost me as a reader. They have become very money grubbing. Why should we pay to read their stuff when it's free every where else.

Makes a mockery of Supercoach Gold - you pay for extra and then they take what you really want - live scores - and put it behind a second pay wall.

Yeah, I won't be paying for the extra :( The Age is looking pretty good

I feel sorry for those people that have payed for SC Gold now...

$2.95 per week for LIVE SC scores plus a bucket load of real time statistics is a bit much, but it does give you unrestricted access to other parts of the Herald Sun's website.

While it is indeed annoying, its also a sign of the times. A lot of online newspapers are going in this direction, as people have realized, why would I pay for a newspaper when I get the news for free online? :-\

You are being generous by calling the Herald Sun a newspaper. A pictorial at best!

why not use the free 2 months, then create another account with a different email to use another 2 free months once the original expires. and continue this system for free?

Reckon you'd have to use a credit card to get the free trial (not sure though), and even if you didn't, the probably won't have free trials forever

I just registered (for free of course) and the answer is no, you dont need a credit card. Just a valid email address and postal address. ;)

I am thinking that when the website hits fall away due to the wall that advertisers may help us with this.

you guys know they have to pay ppl to write stories, edit, print the paper, right? with less people buying the physical copy of the paper they need to maintain their profits somehow or we'll see people a) losing their jobs and/or b) a lesser standard of copy (if possible).

Papers make money from advertisements more than selling the physical copy.

The Herald Sun was mostly Victorian as a physical paper. As an internet site, they are Australian wide.

The more views you get on the interent, the more advertisers pay. This can only make the views go down. Less views. Less money. Less money means people lose jobs...
