Missed most of the Demons game, can anyone tell me why Magner only scored 7points?

Dislocated hand. :(
Ooh that sounds nasty! How long does that put him out for?
Feel bad asking a dt question when the poor blokes gotta be hurting, but still gotta ask!

Some of the guys on the chat seemed confident he could still be right for Round 1 but it doesn't sound great to me. Unless it turns out to be really nasty I'd imagine he'd still get elevated though.

Justin Bieber

Yeah if he's injured they may not elevate him?

Ziplock

how do you dislocate your hand *shudders*

maybe they'll elevate him then put him on the LTI list and elevate someone else as well :P

itchytradefinger

As long as it's not too bad and he looks likely for a round 2 or 3 debut at worst, reckon I'll still pick him.

Mr.Craig

AFL website has the injury listed as "finger" which sounds a heck of a lot more hopeful than "hand".

Fingers crossed. Ours not his obviously... :P

Ziplock

well, I dunno how you dislocate a hand, so personally I presumed it was finger all along :P

Melbourne staggered from bad to worse when it had to call in substitute Nathan Jones late in the opening term afterrookie James Magner suffered a severe break to his right index finger

Mr.Craig

Yeah, I didn't see it happen but I presume he clutched at his hand in a way that gave people the impression it was more in the wrist area. Don't know, 2 to 4 weeks maybe? I guess the index finger would be the last one you'd want injured. At least it's something where he can still keep his fitness up.

ArthurDent

finger not hand,

from melb footy site...

MATURE-age rookie James Magner remains on track for a possible round one call-up, despite suffering a finger injury against Hawthorn at Etihad Stadium on Saturday night.

Magner, who has been one of Melbourne’s most impressive NAB Cup performers so far, had just one touch after sustaining the injury early in the match.

Coach Mark Neeld said Magner appeared to have suffered “a very awkward looking dislocation”.

“It didn’t look very flash, and being the time of year and with the workload that Jimmy has done over the pre-season, it was easier to sub him out straight away,” he said.

Neeld said that if Magner’s finger was just a dislocation, it wouldn’t hinder his chances of being elevated from the rookie to primary list.

Capper

Dislocated fingers are no fun, is he right handed (ie more likely to handball right handed) then i wouldnt see him playing round 1.

Any slight knock on the hand causes pain

This just spells out a mid-year downgrade target...  8)  cha-ching

(But yes, bad news for the kid - he was looking the goods).

The Dees said he'll be all good for round one, you still have the likes of bradley hill, cunningham, brown as mid season downgrade in the mids
